Mariota is finally telling LaFleur “No”

Hey, at the start of Bye week Vrabel said he was impressed with Mariota's 4th qtr passer rating of ~125, and how he needed it to be like that for 4 qtrs.

And here we are two weeks later and what is his passer rating avg over the last 2 games?  122.

I think Vrabel and LaFleur are on the right track.

Yep. The fundamental principle is just giving the guy an offense he’s comfortable with. It isn’t a hard concept. The reference to MM being the pitcher shrugging off his catcher is apt. He will never be the guy like Drew Brees hyping up his team before a game, at least with any regularity. He’s an enigma. He will never be a crab leg stealing W eating winning QB. It’s not his style. But he has to remain vocal and stop viewing the NFL as something wholly different than what he’s done his whole life, which is produce points.

Taking that just a step further, Mariota reminds me more of a pitcher than this 2nd overall pick QB who is supposed to tell the team what to do. He’s an ace. If his catcher is constantly giving him the wrong sign it’s going to screw with the nuts and bolts of how he operates. He’s not only an ace in the right offense, he’s also proved he’s a closer.

I’ve got a feeling that LaFleur is much easier to talk with than Mularkey/Robiskie ... who are old extremely stubborn ultrasensative asshats that publicly states they wanted to turn Marcus into Kordell Stewart.

And these fools here still can’t figure out what’s wrong with the offense most of the last two years.

Its like they didnt even watch the first half of the guys rookie season or after the game 5 adjustment of the offense in year 2. .. or the Seattle/ colts /Balt/San Fran games last year.

When end we spread it out and throw, he’s always been money.

When end we slow it down, max protect ,and don’t give him options he fails... mostly because his time in the league he’s only been OK going off-script. Not the same as college. But even that looks to be coming back under the new staff.

Damn, if only we’d have been doing this for 2 years then imagine how far his development would be right now.

I’m not sure you understood the fact Mariota is killing this franchise.

Hell, I said it the other day when I pointed out the fact that since Robinson and Vrabel know exactly what they have in MM they should cut bait. That’s obvious since he’s a limited QB who needs to be managed.

Wait, I’ve got a better solution. We should option the 5th year because there is no one better, run a limited offense, and then as we struggle along franchise him because of reasons.

I said last year we should offer him a contract immediately and give him a real offense. I was definitely wrong about that though.

Mariota may not have been abused but you can tell the boy ain't right. He makes his bed when he stays at a hotel ffs. Probably leaves a mint on the pillow for the maid. I heard he abides by traffic laws when he plays GTA.

Pretty much exactly how manning and Brady would do it.

Without the weird sexual assault of the athletic trainer, throwing teammates under the bus, and rumors of multiple babies around the country.

I think the internet has ruined people. It’s like they don’t remember Manning.

Too bad you navigate a pocket like Mariota in Mularkey’s offense

Or in LaFleur's offense a few weeks ago when you deemed Mariota done, "He's done"

Inconvenient isn't it?

Inside of the offense they were running, which happened to be exactly like Mularkey’s he was done. Glad to see he spoke up to tell them they were being stupid.

Also, that post came in a game thread while I was pissed. To act like that is anything similar to your bufoonery is a classic deflection. Just admit you were wrong already.

"He's done"
