ctm
"People who work for him are worried ... that he will sign things or give orders that threaten the national security or the financial security of the country, or of the world," Woodward said. Aides like then-Chief Economic Adviser Gary Cohn and White House Staff Secretary Rob Porter literally stole documents off the president's desk in the Oval Office, such as a letter terminating a trade agreement with South Korea, so that, Woodward explained, Mr. Trump could not sign them: "Because they realized that this would endanger the country." Martin asked, "How'd they get away with that?" "[Trump] doesn't remember. If it's not on his desk, if it's not immediately available for action, it goes away." The most dangerous moment of the standoff, Woodward says, came when the presdent went to work on another tweet: "He drafts a tweet saying 'We are going to pull out dependents from South Korea ... Family members of the 28,000 people there.'" That tweet was never sent, because of a back channel message from North Korea that it would regard a pullout of dependents as a sign the U.S. was preparing to attack. "At that moment there was a sense of profound alarm in the Pentagon leadership that, 'My God, one tweet and we have reliable information that the North Koreans are going to read this as an attack is imminent,'" Woodward said. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/bob-woodward-fear-trump-in-the-white-house-people-better-wake-up-to-whats-going-on-in-the-oval-office/
begooode
That kinda destroys the "so what's the big deal? He's just a loud New Yorker" rationalization.
begooode
Spin it how ever you need to Trumpers (Foxnews, save us!), but your guy is just not fit for the office: Bob Woodward has covered eight presidents -- including one who he helped force out of office thanks to his reporting about Watergate. Which means that when he talks, you should listen. And when he says he's never seen anything like what he saw reporting out "Fear: Trump in the White House" -- his book out tomorrow -- then you should stand up and pay attention. "I've never seen an instance when the President is so detached from the reality of what's going on," Woodward told NBC's Savannah Guthrie in a Monday interview, adding: "This has not been treated seriously enough. Some of the things Trump did and does jeopardize the real national security." https://edition.cnn.com/2018/09/10/politics/bob-woodward-donald-trump/index.html

Nobody else is paying attention. ,... inside the echo chamber. And it's not unsubstantiated -- see the doc posted above; the doc removed from Trump's desk. Trumpers can run from the truth, but you can't hide anymore. It's over, imo. The question is the end game.
ctm
So why is Trump desperately searching for the guy?
Legaltitan
I agree, Trump is a total flake and is therefore desperately searching for his hand-picked mutineers.
ctm
American voters believe 55 - 28 percent anonymous allegations that senior aides to President Donald Trump work behind his back to keep him from making what the aides believe are bad decisions, according to a Quinnipiac University National Poll released today. https://poll.qu.edu/national/release-detail?ReleaseID=2567 Must be a lot of flakes out there. begooode
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) privately commended some of the CEOs who departed President Trump's business councils over his handling of the 2017 white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Va., according to a newly published excerpt from Bob Woodward's book. Business Insider reported Monday that Woodward's book on the Trump White House, which comes out Tuesday, contains a passage about the fallout from Trump's press conference in which he declared "both sides" were to blame for the violence that left one counter-protester dead. ,..."Most significant, however, were the private reactions from House Speaker Ryan and Senate Majority Leader McConnell. Both Republicans called some of the CEOs and privately praised them for standing up," Woodward writes, according to Business Insider. Spokespeople for Ryan and McConnell both declined to comment to Business Insider about the reporting. Trump faced overwhelming backlash for his comments after the Charlottesville rally, but Woodward reported in his book, "Fear: Trump in the White House," that the president privately called his decision to initially condemn white supremacists the "biggest f---ing mistake I’ve made." http://thehill.com/homenews/house/405986-ryan-mcconnell-called-to-praise-ceos-after-they-left-trump-councils-because-of
begooode
During an appearance on “The Late Show” on Monday night to promote his new book, “Fear,” Woodward was pressed by late-night host Stephen Colbert about what fills him with fear. ,...The late-night host also noted how Woodward had described Dowd after he finished his practice interview with the president in January, who the journalist noted had warned Trump he would be “fitted for an orange jumpsuit” if he were ever to actually sit down with Mueller’s team for a real interview. “Trump goes ballistic, makes things up, starts screaming. Dowd thought had he been Mueller, he would have been fired right on the spot,” Woodward told Colbert. “‘You can’t testify. You- you are disabled,’” Woodward said, referencing remarks Dowd reportedly made toward Trump after the mock interview. “I mean, imagine the lawyer- your lawyer, telling you you’re disabled. ‘And you can’t testify because you can’t tell the truth. You just make things up!’” http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/406003-woodward-lawyer-told-trump-hes-disabled-and-cant-tell-the-truth
