You don't have to be completely quiet and unassuming to be a championship caliber player. I get that. If we had drafted him I would probably feel differently. We don't know what his work habits are. With talent like that, some guys don't HAVE to work as hard. Signing him would be a risk /reward signing. Sometimes those players pan out, sometimes they don't. Pacman is a good example of a guy that finally got serious about his job. I don't expect all players to be quiet and unassuming. I do expect them to be serious about their jobs. That's why DGB isn't playing in Nashville anymore. He wasn't serious about his job. So judging by JRobs actions in similar situations I figure he's not willing to take the risk. I could be wrong. Here's some comments about OBJ from the Giants message board. They're all over the place, just like this board would be if he was on our team. "There are plenty of young talented players that don't act like complete jack-a**es all game long. I can't put this down as a generational thing -- something is wrong with this kids noggin. LOL." "I think its pretty clear that even when he is dominating, many are sick of his antics." "OBJ is just weird. It cracks me up how these fans sit here and ***** about him considering that this team would be dead in the water without him. He is easily the MVP of this team. This team would be 2-14 at best without him. He is our best player by a country mile and is the most marketable player on the team. It is what it is though. They're entitled to their complaining. I just disagree with it all." "When someone is playing like crap, things you can usually ignore begin to piss you off." "Let's trade him to the jets, since you're so sick of him." "Wouldn't a more simple solution be to stop acting like an idiot?" "Whatever, I still like Odell. Just hope he doesn't do enough to get ejected one of these games." "Couldn't agree with you more. I am so sick of fans that buy into what the media says about OBJ. I dont give a ratz *** about his sideline antics. He is a baller. I rather have winners who take their helmets of after a TD (by away that was outside the field of play) than ones that wont get the TD at all" "ODB has some definite growing up to do. The net thing is getting old... yet, there were a dozen photographers standing right there, ready to capture it and make a story. I hate the antics, but I think Odell will grow up, little by little. He is a smart and basically good guy who has gotten a little full of himself since his all-time NFL amazing catch." "I love his talent, to me he is probably the best WR we ever had talent wise. i am a little tired of the pattern he has displayed with his antics. good game antics and bad game antics. i can deal with the good game antics , but to be honest the bad game antics are disruptive to this team. if he can just control himself a little the skys the limit for him and he will be a super wealthy man soon." Nice quotes, thanks for providing. I find an interesting parallel might be Draymond Green. You can argue that he cost Golden State a title because he got himself ejected through on the court antics (personally, he's one part of a larger picture, but it can be argued). I don't think anyone believes he should act the way he does. However, there isn't an NBA team in the league that wouldn't take Draymond on in a second. Just as he may have cost GS one championship, he was also their best player on many of the games they won and hugely integral to them winning the first title. You don't trade a guy that talented who is that young. This is all theater.

Interesting comparison by putting it that way. Odell is much more important to the team than Green though. Green was an integral part in a lot of their wins but that doesn't mean he was a required cog, Odell has to play well for NYG to win.

Draymond is absolutely a key cog in that system. He's a poor man's LeBron with a better jumper. Crucial defensively and offensively.

NYG is completely disfunctional on O without Odell playing at a top level.
