Mythos27
The question about MM remains, is he a system qb and/or a winner. I see any time somebody criticize MM , the village people come out....If you want to know who they are, then loik at the like tags or better yet, go see them play at the YMCA. "System QB" has become a toxic label. There are a lot of people that support MM so using that label is going to get them going even if you're using it with the best of intentions. Alcibiades
Every QB plays in a system, and the good ones play well in their systems. It doesn't need to be toxic. But people use it as a way to suggest that the system is what is providing the success rather than the player. Mariota played in a great system for the college game and he excelled at playing that system. It doesn't mean he can't be good in other systems. It's just what it was. He'll have some adjusting to do in the NFL, but he's got all the tools to get there, which is all you can hope for in a drafted player.
nine
If there was a system that allowed a coach to plug in any warm body at QB and score 30 points/game....it seems to me that every team in the league would be using that system.

I think it's fairly obvious Mariota is much more than a system QB. In some ways the Oregon system hindered him and led to bad draft analysis like my own. He has the traits of a good NFL QB and just needs to put it all together.
Alcibiades
Agreed. I loved him as a prospect. He could succeed in another system. He'll just have to learn it. He's got all the traits you want in a coachable player.
