Last season, I argued that the Cowboys had the league’s top outside linebacker duo.  DeMarcus Ware’s dominance and the emergence of Anthony Spencer in 2009 made the Cowboys’ pass rush outstanding.

So that covers 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 where he was an OLB. The above quotes show he was drafted as an OLB.

I understand how an optimistic case could be made that he can transition to play that but I'm sure Dallas fans made a pretty good case on how Ware would do as a 4-3 DE last year too. But fact if the matter is Morgan has the ideal skill set to play 4-3 DE. Its what he's been pretty much his whole career. Thinking he'll do well w/ the change at this point is being optimistic at best.

The only thing he's shown to be good at is playing the run and almost getting to the QB and he can almost get sacks like a CHAMP.

Trade him while he's got some value and get someone thst fits better imo.

Your point regarding Ware is not valid. Most of his sacks have been from rushing in a 3 point stance in the nickel e.g. The same as in a 4-3.

Age and injury were the problems.

You are missing my point. I know he played OLB officially but he rushed the passer as a down lineman most of his career which is why I made the comparison of him really being a DE in function.

Ware has something like 90% of his sacks with his hand on the ground lined up on the line of scrimmage. I live the Dallas area and have heard this stat numerous times

Even if Brown doesn't play in the base defense he'll likely play in nickel and passing sets and would still have a large role. Assuming they like him. For all we know Horton sends him packing. Hard to know

I would have to see that to believe it, but that definitely lends credence to what OS was saying.

I didn't believe it at first either. It came up a few years ago when Phillips took the Texans DC job and some of us wondered how Williams would play standing up as an OLB. The answer was he wouldn't have to because he would be used like Ware most of the time.

I might be wrong but my guess is Brown will play ILB on the weak side and Woodyard as the strong side guy although I don't see a huge difference.

I'm pretty sure someone posted this in the Webster thread from his interview today
