Pragidealist
Focusing on one stat that supports your argument is pretty lazy analysis and seems like something you would call out others about. Passer rating doesn't take into account the run game, and since the Titans run close to 50% of the time that is a large part of their offensive efficiency and they are averaging ~3.3 ypc from their running backs. Up through week 5 they had 35% of their offensive possessions end in a 3 and out, that is not the sign of a good offense. This isn't to say they are a terrible offense and that there aren't signs that if Locker gets healthy they couldn't develop into a good offense, but through 6 games this season I don't know how you can objectively say that the Titans offense has been good, they have been poor to average overall. Passer rating isnt one stat. It a combination of stats in an algorithm that is highly correlated with overall offensive success. Looking at the run game to explan low passer rating makes sense. Looking at a bad run game to explain a high passer rating makes no sense. I can use the passer rating this way not because it happens to back up my argument but because i underatand both the passe rating calculations as well as the signifance of the average. It does not back up my argument but created the reason for it. Without such a high average passer i would not come to the same conclusion.
Pragidealist
35% of three and outs mean 65% success. What are the average percentages of 'good" teams vs elite teams?
OILERMAN
35% of three and outs mean 65% success. Â Not going 3 and out 65% of the time is hardly any kind of measure of success

I am talking total offense, passer rating is a stat for overall Quarterback success and efficiency, it does not necessarily correlate to overall offensive success.  Lets take it to extremes for an example, a team has a 100 Passer rating, but only passes 15% of the time, the other 75% are run plays that average 2 ypc.  Does that team have a good offense?  By your logic it does, maybe if the Titans passed 70% of the time it would correlate but since they run ~50% of the time you can't ignore the rushing offense when judging the overall offensive success.  The other QBs in the top 10 for rating all rush  30-40% of the time they are also near the top for YPA and YPG in passing, Titans are near the bottom.  You simply can't ignore the anemic rushing offense when judging overall offensive success and productivity.  And note again, I am not saying the Titans are a terrible offense (with Locker at least) I am saying to this point they have not been consistently 'good' and that overall they have been poor to average.   re: third downs http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/three-and-out-percentage/2013/ Titans were at 35% before yesterday's game.  Make your own conclusions, I think its a good indicator of poor offensive production but I gather you will disagree. Pragidealist
Im not looking at hypothetical extremes. Im looking at one of the two stats most correlated to wins. Passer rating does not just measure passing success. It measures overall offensive efficiency. Find me an offense in history with a 99 average passer rating that was not a pretty good offense with a sample size of at least 4 games. It doesnt happen. freakingeek
I'm questioning Fitz's arm strength on the interception. It was grossly underthrown. You throw the ball to the sideline side of the receiver away from the defender so if you miss you overthrow the WR instead of throwing a pick. I don't believe Fitz had the arm strength to get it there. Either way it was a bad mistake. We were still in the game at that point.

Pragidealist
Prag your Locker worship is fucking ridiculous. Lol okay. All i said was the Titans offense was pretty good and backed it up with the team's passer rating. No one has refuted anything I've said. Find a team with at least four games and an average passer rating of 99 whose offense is not good.
