Jordin Tootoo has been providing Detroit a major kick in the ass this year. He's staying away from the dumb penalties and he's already the crowd favorite. Babcock seems to be pushing all the right buttons with him. I always loved that guy.

The Detroit - Preds match ups are going to be more interesting.

The Preds lost a good one in Tootoo. I guess that's life in the bigs. It looks like Clune has taken over the enforcer duties and doing a pretty fair job of it. Hated to lose Toots though.

The only time I've ever had an issue with Trotz' coaching was benching Tootoo in the playoffs last year.

Cause he took some bad penalties? Really? You can't get this kid straightened out on that? The playoffs were made for players like Tootoo. That is heart and soul right there.

Surprised me too. But my allegiance to Trotz is borderline irrational.

Tootoo's offense completely disapeared towards the end of last leason AND he stopped being as physical, hence the benching. Whether it was mental or there was a rift between him and the coaches, his play deteriorated. Then he got vocal in the media voicing his frustration with lack of playing time via criticism of the coaching staff. Not smart That is one thing Trotz is absolutely steadfast on. Produce effort or ride the pine. It doesn't matter who the player is. Every single roster spot is important, especially in the playoffs. You don't need distractions.

Great win at St. Louis! Preds looked like they were really playing as a team last night. The young guys are stepping up. We are now 1 point out of second place in the division and in 6th place in the conference. 4-2-1 on the road trip. Road warriors!

The impact of this road trip cannot be underestimate. Phoning it in over the course of seven games would have been a kiss of death in this shortened season. Critical performance.

Agreed. The ability to win conference games on the road is absolutely huge. It's going to have to be another balanced team effort on goal scoring this year.
