cenj
Do you know how many times in history QBs threw 42+ times a game prior to the league changes over the last few years? How many 5,000 yard seasons there were all time compared to the number last year alone? You're comparing stats without any understanding of the league difference between now and then. You're point was that Locker had a historic passing performance that you thought neither McNair or any other Titans QB has had, and that reasoning is based on uncomparable criteria. The point is both fundamentally flawed, and completely wrong. This is an example of everything wrong with trying to read too much in to stats. Jamalisms
Locker's play was exciting and a 180 from week 2, but... that was all Washington (and terrible defense) on his TD, we had two special teams TDs, and a fumble return TD by Verner. I'd say Locker made all the small plays and was the glue, but the game was decided by others' big plays. He didn't have any miraculous tight window back corner touchdowns or something. It was a very solid game... just don't exaggerate it. Let it be what it was. i.e. Oilerman has the sense of it on this one
scine09
I'm not sure that McNair would have been as successful if he was asked to throw it as much, though. His record was not good in games where he had to throw it more. I'm not trying to rip the guy, he was my favorite QB of all time. I'm trying to be more realistic about his career than anything. I do think that Titan fans overrate the guy a tad.

This comment would not seem so crazy if you hadn't of been arguing around here how badly Fisher screwed up his career and held him back from throwing it and how if he was still here he would do the same to Locker. But you did incessantly so yeah that;s pretty crazy coming from you but no big surprise either.
scine09
Fisher did hold McNair back. I don't think there's any disputing that. I don't know if he was good enough to throw it 35-45 times a game, however.
Guest
Oh there's alot of disputing that. Lol. So Mac threw 20-25 times per game? I guess 30 was the exact amount of throws for Fisher to escape the wrath of Scine.
scine09
CTF, he ran a run first offense with McNair at QB. In truth we don't know how McNair would have done if they were a pass first offense.
Guest
Well you just said you didn;t think he would do that great in that kind of offense. I'm kinda not shocked and believe I have been wasting my time speaking with someone who doesn't even believe half of what he posts.

You are right to a point, I did contradict myself a bit. More in my criticism of Fisher than McNair. I can't say that I don't think that McNair would succeed throwing the ball all the time and at the same time say that Fisher held him back. I am more upset with Fisher, looking back, for playing so conservatively with the guy and not giving him the chance to use his talents and what made him "Air McNair" in college. Playing the other way didn't win him anything. My real point in this entire thread is that I think Locker will end up a better passer than McNair ever was.
