Longest run of the year and was getting 5+ yardage on many other carries.  Green Bay has been searching for years for a running back that can grind out yards.  Green Bay called Aaron Jones number on 4th down with 1 yard to go which he made with ease.  Jamaal Williams finally got a touch and got stuffed.

Green Bay's new running back...Aaron Jones.

Aaron Jones explodes for 19/125/1 line in win

Aaron Jones rushed 19 times for 125 yards and a touchdown in the Packers' Week 5 win over the Cowboys.

Clearly the lead back with Ty Montgomery sidelined, Jones went for 13 yards on his first carry of the game and consistently picked up chunk gains from that point forward. His touchdown was a nice seven-yard run at the end of the first half, and he set up the play with a sideline grab in the red zone. He also played his part on the game-winning drive, picking up 15 yards and getting out of bounds on a draw. At worst, this performance shows Jones is the handcuff to own for Montgomery, who may not be back in time to face the Vikings next week, but it may be tough for the Packers to keep him off the field even once Montgomery is able to play. He should be added in the 44 percent of Yahoo leagues he is still available.

Aaron Jones emerges in victory for Green Bay

By Sam Monson • Green Bay Packers • Aaron Jones • Oct 9, 2017

With Green Bay Packers RB Ty Montgomery missing the game against the Dallas Cowboys this week due to broken ribs, a lot fell on the shoulders of rookie Aaron Jones, and he responded with authority, racking up 125 rushing yards and an overall PFF grade of 86.4 in Green Bay’s come from behind victory.

Jones broke five tackles over the course of the game, averaging 2.84 yards after contact and posting an impressive elusive rating of 71.1, at times rattling off big gains just when the Packers needed them.

Jones was kept in to pass block eight times, and didn’t allow any pressure, and was so impressive that he played 53 snaps, 88.3 percent of a possible 60. The only other half back to see playing time was Jamaal Williams, who was on the field for just two snaps.

Jones caught the only pass thrown his way for a nine-yard gain.

Best since 2013 and there is question that Ty Montgomery will get a lot of carries??????

Jones didn’t make many mistakes among his 19 carries for 125 yards and a touchdown -- the best day by a Green Bay Packers rookie running back since Eddie Lacy in 2013.

And his catch would have been considered a great catch even for an elite, established wide receiver.

But there was one that stuck in Jones’ mind: his second-quarter 9-yard catch along the left sideline -- the difficult, diving grab that was upheld by a replay review and prompted analyst Troy Aikman to say on the Fox broadcast, “That would’ve been a great catch if that was Jordy Nelson.”

Are you hoping I read this stuff and offer you David Johnson for him?

In a dynasty league, I am not sure I would take David Johnson straight up for him.  First, I have no depth at RB, so I need a player who can play now instead of end of season only.  For next season, I think the two would not be too far apart, then after that Jones would has a good chance of being better for many years.

Johnson needed almost 300 carries just to break 1000 yards last year and his receiving is likely an offense specific fluke and an outlier season. Johnson probably has a season or two of being a good fantasy player then will be breaking down.    Aaron Jones has more talent and will be able to produce similar rushing numbers to Johnson in the 250 rushing range and he can probably get to the 60 range in receptions after he becomes the 3 down back that Green Bay wants. That might happen by this season's end, then he will be a top fantasy player for 5 to 7 years.

If Johnson were playing right now, I would go with him because at this point he is more certain and would likely have a better season.  Aaron Jones's talent is there but for the current season Jones playing time is at risk because of pass protection, learning the playbook and his coach and team wanting perfection from key players right now in the middle of a successful season.  He played in a pro-style offense and I have read nothing bad about his pass protection, so I do not know if that is an issue right now.  He did run a wrong route on at least his one reception play (he talked about it after the game) and there were probably more snafus by him.  So he probably does not become led back right now but even if he does not take the role fully this season he will still be a productive player likely getting equal or lead of committee time. Next season, after a full offseason, he will probably be a full 3 down lead back next season.

LOL come on man.  David Johnson didn't need almost 300 carries to break 1000 yards last year.  He ended up with 1,239 yards on 293 carries and a respectable 4.2 YPC.

He cracked the 1,000 yard mark in week 12 after only about 225 carries.

He's the main focus of the offense and doesn't lose snaps or goal line carries to a committee.  He also doesn't have a QB like Rodgers who is going to throw the ball into the end zone every chance he gets to pad his stats.

A few years ago, the Packers talked about how they had finally found their 3 down lead back in Eddie Lacy.  He had two pretty good seasons being their featured back and he never came close to putting up the fantasy numbers Johnson did last season.
