  1. So did anyone else bust out laughing at the bad pussy line? How the hell did that line make the cut?
  2. Extremely disappointed in the battle of Winterfell. What a joke ending to a season long arc. Otherwise it was exactly as I expected it to be.
  3. Easy. Don't say shit like GRRM told us this would happen in a post episode interview when said event hasn't happened yet in the books. Leave it open for speculation.
  4. ^ this times a 1000. It's also clear that GRRM is not happy about D&D referencing that something they wrote into the show is yet to happen in the books. Obviously everyone understands the show has surpassed the books from a timeline perspective but that doesn't mean the writers should be so cavalier about confirming details such as Shireen burning.
  5. lol. I'm done with this conversation since you have no idea what you are talking about. Get back to me when you actually read up on it. Otherwise stop projecting.
  6. Really? The point is this: If I start to comment on what might or might not happen in scenes that I have not written yet, I will be "spoiling" my own books.I have no further comment at this time.
  7. Also, I'll just leave this here: http://grrm.livejournal.com/428790.html?thread=21734390#t21734390 Thoughts?
  8. I don't see it, especially with Theon I from TWoW having been released. If you haven't read it, you should. Stannis basically tells the Iron Bank rep as well as his followers to support Shireen and put her on the throne. Like I've said many times, Stannis isn't likely to destroy the last surviving highborn heir to his house.
  9. I was referring to book Stannis.
  10. I don't believe Stannis really believes he's Azor Ahai reborn. He's more pragmatic than that.
  11. Haha. Let's hug it out as a couple of condescending pricks.
  12. Actually he resisted burning Gendry and was relieved when Davos freed him. I'm not a Mannis guy but damn this board is making me defend him much more then I want to.
  13. I disagree. Stannis was all about sacrificing those he felt violated the law. He's not killing innocent people because he's a mad man or drunk with power. It's totally out of character. I might be able to get on board with it if the white walkers were about to break through the Wall and there was no other way to stem the tide other than to burn his daughter. But the way the show sets it up is weak.
  14. Nice try. You made a comment that GRRM said this happened in the books but in reality you were just parroting something you read on the internet rather then actually looking into it. Like I said, I have no doubt GRRM told D&D Shireen burns. The point is the manner in which the show did it which totally makes Stannis nonredeemable now. I don't like the character very much either but acting like he's evil and out for the Throne at all costs just shows you don't understand the character. He's all about righteous justice and Law & Order. having him burn the sole remaining highborn heir to the Baratheon house is moronic and shows how little D&D understand about the material. Hell the sample chapter from TWoW clearly shows Stannis wants his followers to continue their war and put Shireen on the throne if he dies in the Winterfell story arc. I have my own suspicion on who burns Shireen and in which context it happens but I'll be absolutely stunned if Stannis is involved. And another thing. I'm sick and tired if your condescending bullshit. Obviously I understand the difference between Print and TV as mediums. There are massive parts of books 4 and 5 that total garbage and would be even worse on TV. I'm not disputing that nor have I ever done so. I'm saying the writers don't understand the characters beyond a superficial layer and it shows week in and week out.
  15. Yes they have the rights to the show. GRRM has made that clear. Not to be a dick but you lack perspective since you haven't read the books.
  16. @Legaltitan just as I thought. You rolled in here, have no idea what you are talking about and rolled out. In book 6, Stannis makes it clear his followers are to put Shireen on the Iron Throne if he dies. I'll go on record right now and say Shireen burns without his knowledge and that D&D fucked up. You can call me a book purist, I don't care. The fact remains D&D have ruined several key characters with Stannis being the latest.
  17. Link? All I've seen is the post episode interview with the writers which doesn't state Stannis ordered it only that she dies at the stake.
  18. Bink, do yourself a favor and read the books. You'll understand why myself and many others take issue with how the characters have been portrayed on screen.
  19. The more I participate in discussions on the shows vs the books the more I believe the writers simply don't get it. They see GoT from a teenage boy's perspective and the show bears that out.
  20. Great post. My issue is that they are clearly going for shock value above all else. The grantland article you linked to earlier makes that same point. I think some of the book Nazi's are insane but I find it hard to argue with them on the subject of whether D&D actually understand the source material. The Cersei Rape scene was the first major red flag as that clearly isn't rape in the books. Another one is what Arya's attachment to her sword personifies. I've accepted the fact the show and the books are not one in the same but it still bothers me when they take liberties with some of the more well known characters for no viable reason other than to film their gotcha moment.
  21. Sounds like you didn't really get Stannis as GRRM defines him. I'm not a fan either but he's not evil. In fact the opposite is true. He's widely considered one of the protagonists which the show runners just threw out the window.
