9 Nines
https://www.houstonchronicle.com/projects/2024/sec-college-football-rankings-week-3/ By Kirk Bohls, Reid Laymance and Brent Zwerneman | Sept. 15, 2024 10:00 a.m. Thanks to Arch Manning, the Texas Longhorns moved up to No. 1 in the Chronicle’s SEC power rankings. Usually, seeing a No. 1 QB and Heisman favorite go out with injury would be a problem. Not for the Longhorns, When Quinn Ewers strained an abdominal muscle, Manning stepped right in and produced highlight-reel plays to lead the Longhorns to a 56-7 win over UTSA. Texas’ dominance, and perhaps the Manning name, was enough to move the Longhorns past Georgia, which had all it could handle in a 13-12 win at Kentucky. The Bulldogs trailed for most of the game and escaped with the victory. And don’t look now, but Alabama is starting to look comfortable. The Crimson Tide and Jalen Milroe (five TDs as well) took care of business on the road against Wisconsin. It promises to get more interesting this week as Tennessee heads to Oklahoma for the game of the week. And then it’s Georgia at Alabama on Sept. 28.
