Face
That's Russell Wilson. There's tons of great QBs, most of them, that don't have a career trajectory anywhere close to that so early. This is true, I shouldn't really kill Locker for not being as good as Wilson, who's just awesome. I've done my fair share of ripping on Jake but I'm pretty excited to see how he plays this year, the guys been poorly developed & also had a bunch of bad luck. Whisenhunt has a real good system that fits Jake well and I think the improved pass catching from the RB spot could be a real boon for him as well. Hopefully he has a great year. luvyablue256
Kuharsky is already making excuses for Mettenberger looking better than Locker in the preseason "Titans reporter Paul Kuharsky says QB Zach Mettenberger should succeed in the preseason because he'll be facing players who won't be starters or even on rosters when the season begins." He goes on to say Locker probably won't look as good because he will be playing against starters, and he suspects fans will call for Mettenberger to start as a result. Perhaps that argument has merit or upon second thought, does it really? Mettenberger's teammates, on the field, will also be that calibre -how would he look with starters supporting him, as Locker will have. Also, shouldn't a 4th year pro (3rd year starting) look better against his peers (other starters), than a rookie does against his peers? Also, the most interesting thing: Why does ESPN's analyst for the AFC South/Titans foresee this enough to warrant making a prediction about it and ask fans not to jump to conclusion about Mettenberger outplaying Locker in preseason. I mean, why does he even assume Mettenberger will look better than Locker in preseason games ( again one is a 4th year pro, picked in the first round, and the other is sixth round rookie, and both are playing against their peer experience level competition.) I think there is much more to it than his given reason/excuse. Also, by stating Mettenberger will play well against 3rd stringers, isn't he implying Mettenberger is beyond a 3rd stringer, which seems counter to all these -he-was-drafted-in-6th-round-so-he-has-no-chance posters. Here is the video: http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=10926332 Here's one thing that most Titans fans don't realize and aren't privy to: When coaches & execs speak off the record (and only to certain reporters), they talk more candidly about this stuff. They KNOW Locker isn't a starting caliber NFL QB. Locker is being given this last grand chance by the FO & staff who understand this season is likely a wash. They're doing this to be nice. The local media knows this, but they play ball with the FO because nobody wants to burn that bridge. When you listen to guys like Kuharsky long enough, at times, you can tell that when they're throwing hints. This is one of those hints. The million dollar question is, at what point will Mettenberger show that he either is or isn't a starting caliber QB. THIS staff (as opposed to anyone we've had thus far) will find out sooner rather than later. Because if Mettenberger isn't, Webster is fucked.
