Oiler FANatic
Point of fact. The one guy who actually did average a triple-double was not the MVP. Bill Russell won the MVP that year and if I'm not mistaken Wilt came in 2nd averaging 50 PPG including his 100-point game allegedly having taken place in Hershey, PA. And Westbrook is barely maintaining his 10 APG right now so his triple-double season is in serious jeopardy.

Lazy logic. It is what it is. Harden had a better season than Curry two years ago, yet Curry got the MVP just like Bill Russell beating out Wilt and Robertson back in the day. If there was an offensive player of the year, then they could give that to Westbrook as a consolation when Harden wins the MVP. Giving him the MVP just for averaging a triple-double is absurd. I won't be the least bit surprised if Westbrook finishes 3rd behind Harden and LeBron.

And considering RW's numbers are better than both of there's damn there across the board, it shouldn't be a question. Without averaging a triple-double, Westbrook would have zero chance of winning the MVP. That's a fact. His numbers are nearly identical to Harden's, only the rebounds are slightly higher. Even LeBron's numbers are fairly comparable to Westbrook's. It's just like the MVP race in 1962. Harden and LeBron are Wilt and Russell, while Westbrook could very easily finish third like Robertson did.
Oiler FANatic
Back-to-back 40-point triple-doubles for Harden, I rest my case!!! Westbrook did have consecutive 40-point triple-doubles last month, but not on a back-to-back.
Little Earl
I haven't watched enough of them play this year to say for sure, but from what IÂ have seen, Harden was more impressive.

Therefore Russell means more to his team. Wrong again. Take Harden off the Rockets and they're a 35-40 win team at best. 11 hours ago, JakePA_Titan said: Who is a blind homer now? There were just 2 instances of players having consecutive 40-point triple-doubles in NBA history before this season. Harden did it TWICE already this season, Westbrook just once. Harden is the only player to ever have 50+ points, 15+ boards, and 15+ assists in a game and the only player in NBA history with TWO 50-point triple-doubles in a season. Oiler FANatic
Only a Harden-hater or someone who just feels sorry for Westbrook actually thinks that Russ is better. If you look at their career numbers as starters, Westbrook in OKC and Harden in Houston, it's obvious: Harden: 27.3 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 7.5 APG, 44.3% FG shooting, 36.4% 3-point shooting, 85.9% FT shooting Westbrook: 22.5 PPG, 6.1 RPG, 7.9 APG, 43.3% FG shooting, 31% 3-point shooting, 82.2% FT shooting

Oiler FANatic
Rockets guard James Harden is the 3rd player in NBA history with 2,000 points and 800 assists in a season, first since Tiny Archibald in 1972-73 (Oscar Robertson did so in 5 seasons).
