OILERMAN
Can't use the crown of your helmet on the QB, not that I agree
Guest
No it wasn't. Upshaw led was the crown of his helmet. It's was a good call.
abenjami
That was not a crowning. He had to put his head down a bit in order to avoid hitting him in the chin.
abenjami
If he leaves his head straight up then it's called for helmet to helmet.
Guest
You can't lead with your helmet period.
abenjami
That's sort of my point. It's impossible to NOT lead with your helmet to some degree as physically your body follows your head. They need to do a much better job of leaving the flags in the pockets when it's not helmet to helmet and the amount of helmet contact was a product of the situation and not intended to injure. All Upshaw had to do was tackle like he's been instructed to for 20 years and it's not a foul.

You mean keep his head up all the way so the upper half of his helmet and facemask hit Big Ben in the chin?
Guest
You mean keep his head up all the way so the upper half of his helmet and facemask hit Big Ben in the chin? No I mean use proper technique and put your shoulder into the opposing player's abdomen.

What is funny is the hit on Antonio Brown a few plays later was way worse and did not draw a flag because he's not a QB.
