2015 MLB Offseason

Mets have signed Michael Cuddyer and will forfeit the 15th overall pick to the Rockies

What a stupid move, Cuddyer is 35 and hasn't played in 140+ games since 2010. Last year, he only played in 49 games.

Typical Mets move

Pumped about Russell Martin!

Not only is he Canadian but you have to understand

1) The leadership he brings to the clubhouse which we need

2) The Jays have a phenomenal young staff and more young arms on the way i.e. Sanchez, Stroman, Hutchison, Daniel Norris...we need a vet catcher that can handle all these guys.

It's a huge signing for us.

We already have Navarro at catcher who is pretty good. Martin will play alot of DH and maybe even first base with Lind gone.

I think it was a bad move by the Braves to trade Heyward too

I didn't mind the trade because it seemed unlikely they would be able to resign him, so at least they filled a need and got a guy who's controllable for the next 4 seasons in Miller. I don't get the rumors about trading Upton though.

Nice trade for Toronto, if they get some pitching they could have a pretty serious team in 2015

They already have a lot of pitching. I agree, it was a good trade. Donaldson is a top 5 caliber 3B at a prime age. I think once Billy saw the deals for Sandoval and Seager, he decided to begin moving Donaldson because he knew he wouldn't be able to keep him at that price.

Love the Donaldson trade.

Dude you must be unfamiliar with our young arms.

Marcus Stroman - top half of the rotation pitcher - 2014 MLB stats :11-6  3.65 ERA - 23 years old

Aaron Sanchez Future #1 Ace - 2014 MLB stats - 2-2 - 1.09 ERA - 85 strike outs in 100 innings - 22 years old

Drew Hutchison - Middle of rotation - 2014 MLB Stats - 11-13 - 190 innings - 4.50 ERA - 24 years old

We also have prospect Darnell Nurse who is a top Baseball America prospect.

These guys join vet starters RA Dickey, Mark Buerhle and JA Happ.

There's a good chance Sanchez will remain our closer since there is no room for him in the rotation.

We are crazy deep in arms.

Dickey is 43 and as the team's ace had an ERA of 3.71

Mark Buehrle is 36 and opponents had a BAA of .287 against him last year, granted he logs 200 IP per year

JA Happ is awful, you seriously want to consider him a worthwhile pitcher?

Darnell Nurse...do you mean the hockey player?

The team lacks a legit ace, which was what I was referring to. I'd love Dickey if he wasn't the front man in my rotation, but he is in Toronto

I think you're a better baseball fan then to think every competitive roster needs to have 3 Ace's.

Mark Buerhle can pitch in pretty much any rotation he wants because he;s a guaranteed 200 plus inning guy who is good enough to be your 4th or 5th guy.

Dickey is a knuckleballer (age is no factor), another massive innings eater, and a former Cy Young award winner and a top 3 guy in almost any rotation.

JA Happ is a LH that everyone needs and went 11-11 last year as a starter with a 4.22 ERA and can pitch in almost anyone's rotation.

Granted we don;t have a David Price #1 ACE type guy...that is hoped to be Sanchez. He has all the stuff and make up. We might have had David Price if we would have traded Aaron Sanchez . However it;s also possible we keep Sanchez as our closer.  Sanchez throws 98 and has a wipeout breaking ball and throws 5 pitches well. 22 years old.

In the end, on paper,  we have one of the best, deepest rotations in all of MLB and I think you're just too caught up in star power and not realizing the young talent on hand.

...and if the Jays are as competitive as they should be you can guarantee we'll be in the market for a top arm come July/August if we need one.

Look out for the Jays.

Darnell Nurse! Hah!

I actually meant Nolin but I screwed up twice because he went the other way with Laurie.biggrin.png

Nolin has the potential to be a top half of the rotation guy.

What about Stroman? Dude has all kinds of stuff, goes 11-6 with a 3.65 ERA as a 23 year old, and you already can say he will never be an ACE?

For the record i don;t see him as  #1 guy either but a great #2 or #3 guy. He';s going to win 12-18 games every year and be a sub 4.00 ERA guy.

I agree on that, kid has a lot of potential.
