My Ideal draft and why

This isn't to say I think it will go this way but this would be the most awesome way it could go imo

1st) WR Tavon Austin - playmaker and ideal slot WR also gives deep speed in case Britt misses time

Trade back into the 1st using our 2nd, Nate Washington and a conditional pick in 2014.

late 1st) OL Jonathan Cooper - w/ the Titans passing on Warmack at 10, he falls to the mid-teens which means Cooper falls even farther and in range of the Titans in a trade back into the 1st

3rd) C Barrett Jones - w/ he falls further than most expect and into the 3rd.

If a good safety drops to our 1st 3rd round pick, we could pick him instead and leave C for the next pick, possibly still Jones.

For starters this means the Titans' starting OL is pretty much set.

LT - Michael Roos

LG - Andy Levitre

C - Barrett Jones (Velasco until Jones is healthy and/or wins the job)

RG - Jonathan Cooper

RT - David Stewart

Our base Offensive set would then be:

WR1 - Kinny Britt

WR2 - Kendall Wright

WR3 - Tavon Austin

TE - Delanie Walker

RB - Chris Johnson

This essentially means we're finished building the offense. We have a potentially dominant OL. We have 3 very athletic and playmaking WRs who all play different roles. Kinny Britt is your big deep threat and jump ball WR. Wright is your athletic/quick route running specialist and Austin is the dynamic safety valve that can score any time he touches the ball. On top of that we also have 3 TEs that are all exceptional blockers and underrated receivers. And to close out the offense we've got a big play running back in CJ and a big powerful short yardage back in Greene

We then run a Tom Moore type offense where Locker comes to the line w/ at least a Run/Pass presnap check. This could be something as simple as where the safeties line up. If the defense is running 2 deep safeties then you run the ball. You've got a good run blocking OL and Walker, a very good blocker, and Britt on the strong side.

If the defense comes out w/ a single high safety, it probably means cover 3 zone or cover 1 man so you put Austin in motion. This does 2 things. First, it helps Locker read zone or man coverage but it also prevents them from getting a jam on the smaller Austin. You've now got Wright on the weak side who should excel w/ curls or in/out routes, pretty much any route that requires quick cuts. And you've got Austin as the primary check down running speed routes such as drags or going deep or routes just meant to be high percentage throws to get the ball in his hands and get yards. Lastly, you've got Walker as the last resort.

Then you've also got the ability to go heavy w/ either CJ or Greene. That means you've got the ability to put Walker, Stevens and Thompson out there w/ Britt and you have a very strong running attack.

Yes, this means going all out for the O and very little for the D. This means you've got a potentially very strong offense and b/c of that GW can be aggressive on D. You've got Morgan, Lee, Casey and Pitoitua as your base DL, all of which who are very strong against the run and on base sets you blitz for pressure. On passing downs, you at the least take out Pitoitua and put in Wimbley which moves Wimbley into more of a situational pass rusher. Yeah, the D will give up big plays but the offense should be able to score which means what we're looking for on D are turnovers when we need them most and the offense keeps us in the game until those turnovers come.

Then next year we focus all on the defense. We can't build the offense and defense at the same time this year and hope we can hold people enough on defense to make up for deficiencies on offense so you build the offense and you score points and you go aggressive on D expecting the other team to score but also expecting your offense to keep you in games.

Hahahaha

We ranked dead last in points allowed last year and then we go with three offensive players with the first three picks, makes a lot of sense.

Give It up.

Depends on the value of the conditional pick which in turn would depend on his play. We pick 8th in the 2nd round. It wouldn't take that much to get back into the late 1st.

This trade would never happen.

Again, the primary value in the trade is the conditional pick. If Nate plays poorly, they get a high pick instead.

And the trade isn't even essential to the plan. If you can't trade back into the first, pick Warford in the 2nd.

If Nate plays poorly they get a high pick? That is not how conditional picks work.

heh?

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/What_is_conditional_draft_pick_in_the_nfl

The term 'conditional draft pick' refers to when A) there is a trade, and B ) compensation will be a draft pick, and C) which pick it will be is based on the performance of the traded player and/or his new team.

An example would be the Donovan McNabb trade from the Eagles to the Redskins in 2010. The Eagles received the Redskins #2 pick in the 2010 draft and a conditional pick in the 2011 draft.

The Eagles will receive either the Redskins #3 or #4 2011 draft pick based on the following conditions:

1) whether McNabb makes the Pro Bowl in the 2010 season, or

2) whether the Redskins make the playoffs in the 2010 season, or

3) whether the Redskins win 9 games in the 2010 regular season

If one or more of the three conditions above comes true the Eagles will receive the Redskins #3 pick. If none of the conditions comes true the Eagles will receive the Redskins #4 pick.

You said they would get a high pick if he played poorly then you use a source that agrees with what I said. Weird.

Picks get higher based on good play. Not bad.

Why you would use that quote to respond to me is baffling.

It means the pick is dependent on his play. If he plays well, they get a certain pick. If he plays poorly, they get a different pick. It's how it works. It's dependent on his play. You're now focusing on semantics instead of the actual plan.

If this happens I will have to send someone my left nut.. ;)

WE WON'T DRAFT A WR in the first.. Not gonna happen..

Would you seriously be upset w/ that offensive set up?
