Has anyone else watched the first two episodes of Welcome to Derry?

All the main characters but one got wiped out at the end of episode 1.   Who saw that coming?

I'm watching. Will use vague language. It was a gimmicky move for sure, but it had a good effect. I think it was a really clever use of a pilot, to completely establish expectations based on a trope (the stranger things/losers club gang of kids) and flip that on it's head.

Overall, I do like the show. It is trying a bit too hard and I think could err on the side of more suspense building, subtle horror.

Ok. I was fully on board through episode 3.   I'm not sure I dig on the direction epi 4 left us with.   I'm perfectly willing to give it the benefit of the doubt and hope the rest of the season turns it around.  For now.

Who am I kidding?    I'll watch every episode and love it, even if I find ways to pick them apart.

About to watch epi 5 again.  trying to make sense of it all.   Not make sense of the story, but why the story was written at all.

But I still love it....  Um....  Yeah.

Ok, the trajectory just turned back up.  I'm happy with this again.

Spoiler

Kind of an odd thing with Pennywise's daughter.   An ancient evil finally found his perfect fixation?  Still, better than the mess from last week.

One episode left.   Something tells me this ain't gonna end happy.

I have been pretty meh on this--feels very hit or miss and at times does things for the sake of being shocking. Wish the slow played it a bit more and lived in these worlds. Wish the elements we saw in this episode (7) was woven more throughout. Perhaps a more concentrated narrative as opposed to one more thing going on.

Either way, I don't dislike it at all and there are moments I really enjoy. Episode 7 had some of those. Skarsgard is just so good in this role.

I can't argue any of this.  At times the show seems to be running tiller-less.  Then next episode, they tie it together.  I think it could have been woven a bit better, taking their time telling the interwoven stories.  With that said, I do like the concepts and it's cool to see an explanation how the ancient entity chose Bob Gray's Pennywise as its decoy for kids.   And you are correct, Bill Skarsgård was born for this role.

I like RTD, I'm watching it with my son.  We are at episode 3, logistics.  I like the show.  I'm a big SK fan. I read The Institute twice.  Same with a lot of his books.  Somehow twenty-five percent of his main characters happen to go through Derry.   I think IT must be his favorite book.  11. 22. 63.  by SK  Is one of my favs.
