Like john gruden when he got the bucs already loaded. Edited 23 hours ago by Callidus
BeedoeLaw
He has never had a losing season in 18 years. That is hard to do. Mythos27, and TF_Titan

But the system that Kelly/Downing both ran is rooted in the Erhardt/Perkins verbiage and philosophy (which is what McDaniels uses also). Kelly ran the same system under BOB and it looked quite similar stylistically between both O'Brien and Vrabel - which is why that hiring was a fit. The Titans variation under Vrabel was an interesting mix though - they kept the LaFleur zone run game (Shanahan OZ) but used the Erhardt/Perkins system and passing philosophy overall. That's partially why the run game and pass game often seemed disjointed. Anyway, Erhardt/Perkins philosophy (BOB, Daboll, Tim Kelly, McDaniels, Mularkey to an extent) is very different than the West Coast systems of the Gruden/Reid/Callahan varieties (power/man blocking centrally, some inside zone). Also of course much different than the Shanahan tree which is much more reliant on pre-snap motions and recognition, and outside zone running to control the horizontal flow of the defense. Lot more 2 TE sets, roll-outs, play-action, etc. I'll take your word for it.
titansfan
Mike Tomlin and Steelers appear to be headed towards mutual split especially if Steelers miss playoffs. Im a big Tomlin fan but I do worry about his tendency to micromanage slightly. Will he demand more control than Brinker/Borgonzi possibly want (and his pedigree absolutely demands that he should). Is he on board with a 2 year process to contention (a realistic expectation). Does he get with prioritizing development over immediate answers that veterans could provide. Im not sure, but Tomlin would invigorate the fanbase in a big way. He instantly becomes a superstar in Nashville and gets plastered on everything Mythos27, tgo, Omar, and 1 other

I would be on board with 86ing Brinker all together if it meant landing Tomlin. I feel like Borgonzi would be good with a coach like Tomlin having alot of power in an organization. Hell.......he came from kc where Andy Reid is likely the most powerful coach in the NFL. He has seen it work. oldschool
BTiger3733
Just want to point out one of Saleh's alarming failures as a HC. The man hired Todd Downing, Keith Carter, and Nat Hackett to be his offensive staff in 2023. ChesterCopperpot1, tgo, and Supernope 2

I have not been impressed. According to his own admission, he was directly involved in the Sneed trade, and he was directly involved in the offseason that got Ran canned. So it seems to me the only thing he is good at is sucking up and chucking people under the bus.

Brinker is the head of football ops and hired borgonzi... they are going to hire a HC that works within that framework period. I agree, my comment was about what it would take for the Titans to land Tomlin. However unlikely that is to happen.

He's not brining in his own guys or asserting control like Vrabel did in New England. Omar

scine09
If AAS wants Tomlin then Brinker will have two choices. Cede power or find another job.

How about Floyd Reese? What about Andy Reid? Hell........does the GM in Pittsburgh have a Brinker that is in between himself and the owner that can overrule him on roster decisions?
