The Titans defense was #1 overall (yards allowed, etc etc) but the Ravens set the record for points allowed. Titans allowed 191, Ravens 165.

But I'll always take the Titans 2000 defense over the 2000 Ravens defense. They were a vice grip that year.

Start a petition to bring Greg Williams back LOL

For all his vices, he was a bad ass DC.

Isn’t that what every team wants?

Aussie isn't talking about acquiring clones of Miller and Ware or Chris Harris or Talib.....   This is about philosophy.    Getting press CBs who can play man on 3rd down and rush

I think he means the education level of most Americans having the inability to read

Fret not, I heard the Titans have lured Bruce Smith and Michael Strahan out of retirement.  The pass rush will be beastly.

A metrosexual Michael Strahan is still probably better than what we got right now to be honest

Babin may be one of the wildest scheme specific players i can remember. He was garbage after being a first round pick till we got him. Then they dropped him into that wide 9 and he went off. Eagles did the same and he had another fantastic year. After that he bounced around doing nothing for the rest of his career.

That was part of it. But his rookie year in Houston he had alot of TFL. Apparently he was also a huge dick, at least in his earlier years. Granted this is according to him but he claims he had some dominant camos & preseasons & then some ham & eggers would start over him. I think some of it is true.

It's behind a paywall and I don't care to pay for the Tennessean.

Must be a region based paywall (like ESPN does with some of their stuff) because I'm not subscribed to the Tennessean and that article and most of Nick Suss' stuff is not paywalled for me.

Could also be a number limit and I've read more Tennessean articles than usual this year bc of Titans/Cam.

Essentially, what it says is:

Build through the trenches, get dbs in the secondary who can win 1v1 (good press corners), find a QB and run the team through him, find ways to be explosive on offense without necessarily needing fo be vertical about it, and find your QB of the defense whilst using your safeties interchangeably.

A lot of people think it's a given they'll go edge with that first round pick next year. But they could possibly go safety (Downs), or even a DT if they like a guy enough and think he could be a great companion piece to Simmons and even eventual replacement for him later.

There's a whole season of college ball yet to be played, but the edge class next year might be deep enough that it wouldn't matter missing out on one of the "top" guys if you can get a top player like S Caleb Downs or DT Peter Woods and then grab a talented edge in the 2nd round with 1st round potential.

This is why during the 2025 draft they were looking at a lot of day 2 RB and speedy slot WR guys they are searching for players with explosive YAC ability.
