EC34
That's all this offseason free agency period is - with the potential exception of Moore. They told us it wouldn't be sexy. It isn't. They told us we were in a multiple year rebuild. We are. They suggested that the excitement would happen on draft day. It might. I am 0% disappointed and 100% on expected. Are we any better at this moment than we were two weeks ago? If so, only by inches. The next big upset here is if/when we stick and pick at 1. Cam Ward is inevitable - unless the total pick package is exceptional. Either the Giants or Browns will have to be so certain that this is a 1 QB class that they far overpay for the rights to Ward. I don't think they will. I think we stick and pick. I think the site will meltdown. titanruss, IsntLifeFunny, and Titandan
Tex in a Can
Cam Ward looks like the pick. The dreaded tank a thon would be to go into the season with Mac Jones and Will Levis and trade back for draft picks. In this case, if Callahan doesn't have a get out of jail card for 2025, he's toast. DCTitan, and SleepingTitan

Lars
They wouldn’t admit it but the goal is to get in the seven or eight win range. That’s possible with better QB play, Still worlds away ,needing two good WRs and two good pass rushers. That won’t happen for another year or two. rns90

I was looking at draft data and it’s not as easy getting a starting level WR in day 3(rds 4-7). They might be better taking other positions. It’s just they are probably going to be running substandard units at WR/EDGE.

I don't know if they'll go after receiver all that hard unless they can pick up multiple picks in a trade back from 35. All the best ones will be gone before round 4 I bet. rns90
titanruss
Yeah, kinda agree. We are clearing cap space for next year. Space we have this year is being used for 1 year deals. No long term staples. No expensive contractls worht chasing in FA now.

If they can trade down from 35 and get an extra 3rd. Thats where I’d take one. I think they have better odds of getting a useful pass rusher w/the 4th rder than a WR. EC34
35 yo Zeitler another great stop gap example ... they can invest a 5th or 6th in the G for the future. If they are willing to suffer fan apathy, they trade to 3, pick Carter, have solved Oline and Dline challenges. They use the other picks for WRs/Edge/Safeties and run it back with Levis realizing that they are almost a lock for another top 5 pick in 2026. Just goiong to be hard for Ms Amy to tolerate the noise (and 12 season tickets sold).

You probably can find a better edge than wr in the 4th this year, but.... if you trade out of the top 40 that edge guy you are passing up could still be special this year. rns90
Titans_Win_Again
Sure seems like they aren't focusing on winning next year, which is fine.

Honestly, I would just stay put at 35 and grab the edge guy and just leave the trading down to next year or whatever. And for this they do have the #1 WW position, so any post draft-through training cap cuts that are put on waivers they have a shot at anyway. That’s another benefit for this year. flaming_thumbtack
The FA moves have been extremely intentional in setting us up to have a competent roster while having flexibility in the draft. Good teams are built through the draft. The next time a Super Bowl is bought through heavy FA spending (similar to what NE did this year) will be the first. Good teams have always viewed FA mainly as a place to patch up holes, not transform your roster. DCTitan
