What happens when foreign countries are no longer interested in buying American debt? Our bonds have always been considered a safe investment. Now? Maybe not anymore.

Ray Dalio has been publicly warning about U.S. debt and its potential consequences for well over a decade. His concerns became particularly prominent after the 2008 financial crisis, when he frequently discussed the risks of excessive debt, central bank interventions, and the long-term debt cycle.

2011-2012: Dalio outlined his "beautiful deleveraging" framework, discussing how the U.S. was managing its debt crisis compared to historical patterns.

2018: He warned that the U.S. was in the late stage of a debt cycle and could face significant problems in the next economic downturn.

2020-2021: During the pandemic, he highlighted the dangers of excessive money printing and rising government debt.

2023-Present: He has been increasingly vocal about the unsustainable trajectory of U.S. debt, the risks of de-dollarization, and potential geopolitical consequences.

His warnings have consistently revolved around debt cycles, inflation, and the long-term implications of fiscal and monetary policy.

Trump is genuinely an idiot running the country. Like an extremely low IQ individual. Bush was dumb in his ways but this is another level. Fascinating to watch him with even less guard rails

The biggest grift is the fact the GOP explodes the deficit every time they gain control of congress and the Whitehouse. They want $4.5T worth of tax cuts for the wealthy. Guess who pays for that? the

But through it all, the rest of the world was happy to buy our debt as a safe haven. The difference is that now the rest of the world might no longer see it as safe.

They might be purposely trying to tank it. I do not know that much about him and have been too lazy to read them but there are articles quoting Peter Thiel wanting to crash the economy and monetary system.

President Donald Trump will soon follow up his promise to implement a 1798 law to speed up the expulsion of illegal immigrants from America, according to a new report.

“I will invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to target and dismantle every migrant criminal network operating on American soil,” he said during the presidential campaign, according to NPR.

The act gives Trump the power to expel non-citizens during a time of national emergency. Trump could invoke it as soon as Friday, according to CNN.

The Alien Enemies Act has been invoked three times in US history during World Wars I and II to detain or expel groups considered a threat.

In an alternate world, Elon Musk sacrificing himself to perform the greatest trick of all time and convince conservatives to embrace EVs would have been done as an act and with noble intentions.

That it was done in full-blooded hubris and embracing of his own worst inclinations is quite the difference.

America is bombing the capital of Yemen today. I am not sure if the news is just breaking or for some reason has been ignored for a few hours.

So they can shoot at our planes and drones, and as long as they miss, no worries.  Right guys?

I believe these strikes are justified.  Certainly we'll hear about "no new wars", but I do think this is the proper action.

Here’s a ‘dead’ person on Social Security in Seattle, with plenty to say

“DOGE Has 10 Staffers at Social Security in Hunt for Dead People,” the headlines read this past week.  I found a dead person on Social Security. Right here in Seattle, on Capitol Hill.  Of course the circumstances of Ned Johnson’s death were completely the opposite of what Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency had claimed was rampant.  “You wake up one day and discover you’re dead,” Johnson told me. “It’s been truly surreal.”

Sounds like DOGE is utilizing the same in-depth vetting techniques employed by the MAGA voter fraud team:  just matching first / last names without bothering to check addresses or SS numbers to verify that it's the same person.

Sounds like you idiots don't realize that thousands are declared dead every year by the government but are alive.

Dumbest mother fuckers.

Ebenezer Scrooge has joined the chat to say

Might as well declare them dead.  There won't be any complaints because the offices and call center have been shut down. They'll probably be dead by the next election anyways.  We'll save so much money!
