2024 General Election - Trump vs Kamala Harris

Tim Burchett, a TN congressman, yesterday called Harris a DEI hire.

Really?? After being elected AG of Cal. twice, US senate, and VP.  Republicans bring on a lot of the racism charge themselves.  In addition, these types of attacks, regardless of how you label them, will create a backlash.  How is Trump going to appeal to black voters when he and his allies issue statements like this?

So if republicans want to use racism and misogony for the next 105 days, I say go for it.

It's impossible not to question the morality of people who choose to support politicians who spread vile and dangerous rhetoric like that.   If you're willing do that, what else are you will

Again, attacking a political opponents credibility and calling them a ‘DEI hire’ is crude but an effective strategy and not racist. By constantly calling stuff like this racist, it waters down the conversation and gives legitimacy to guys like Vance that turn around and say… look at dems crying wolf… again.

Put yourself in the shoes of black voters, especially black women, and think how this will be perceived.

Democrats have created a stereotype for themselves by calling everyone who disagrees with them sexist, racist whatever. Republicans overreact to play up to emotions but they aren’t 100% wrong either which is why a lot of people will agree with his statements.

Im saying he's not charismatic at all, look at the video lol

It's literally, by definition, racist.

It's absolutely racist to assume any minority in a position of power was handed their job or career due to DEI. Call it what it is and stop both sidesing everything.

Biden said he’s gonna hire a Black female for vice president,” Burchett said. “What about white females? What about any other group?” When you go down that route, you take mediocrity and that’s what they have right now as a vice president.”

Look, you can call that racist if you want to but then don’t complain when republicans throw it back in your face. Many people agree with the sentiment whether you like it or not and it’s not racism to question whether those people got those jobs because they were the most qualified person or because of… something else. Look at the conversations had on this forum and how it has to be a minority or it has to be a white man or you can’t pass over Harris. It’s reality. By crying racism constantly you take away from the real racism conversations, and enable your opponents to easily undermine your candidates.

It is inherently racist. Calling a black person a “DEI ______” is literally saying that they were unqualified but hired only because they were black. Racists can’t say the N word now so they say DEI instead.

Sure, and that perception is wielded as weapon but it’s a two way street and that’s the point that’s being missed.

He comes across as a dork - he has to explain things and does it in awkward way (Mountain Dew what?), and he is not charismatic, hence having to wear eyeliner to even animate his face.  One of Trump's biggest pet peeves is the perception of being a loser.  The Harris campaign should go out of the way to label Vance a nerd in a humorous way and Trump might start attacking him himself.

Mark Kelly will not be called a DEI choice by anyone

I wonder why

Mark Kelly can show humor by pointing out that he does not have a wild combover like you know who.

No, it’s not. He didn’t infer that she had different capabilities because she’s a black woman, he inferred that there was a calculated choice to pick her because she was a black woman and questioned whether someone else deserved the job more. There’s a difference.
