This doesn't get nearly enough pub. The top CEOs of the biggest companies in the US are all against Trump and his economic agenda.

Hello?

Yes, because tariffs are stupid, they are anti-free market, they drive up the cost of goods and services for businesses and consumers, and I've yet to see them truly force compliance from the intended target unless they were a small market share that could have been negotiated with in good faith anyways. An entity like China isn't all of a sudden going to start pandering to US business interests because of trade tariffs, they will just impose their own restrictions and sell to competitors for cheaper which will result in inflation and isolation of markets.

It's a horrible economic policy.

Right. That's why I didn't put a value judgement on my statement. A big reason why I voted for Biden and was excited for him to win (despite him not being my favorite) was because I felt like if he won, I could finally just stop paying such close attention to politics. I legit stopped watching most political stuff after he won. I was just burnt out from the Trump years. The average American does not want to spend their life following the whims of politicians; they just want to live their lives.

Same here. That and Trump, the person, fails to meet the basic character requirements I find necessary to earn my vote.

The toxicity when discussing this stuff is palpable. People are so emotionally wrapped up in it. You can't have a reasonable conversation with people from the opposite aisle if they are at all invested. What's worse is that people used to have principles and argue politics off those principles. Now, people pick a team and argue principles based on their team.

I was like 20 when I became aware of politics and began following it. My introduction to politics coincided with Obama's first campaign. The toxicity was there but there but a lot of the discussion was around policy and the best way forward. Yes, I did think that republicans were kinda racist and only out to benefit the rich but I didn't see them as completely morally bankrupt. The last few years have been disgusting to say the least. 23 year old me would've never thought I'd be clamoring for republicans like Mitt Romney but here I am lol.

Totally agree. This is no longer the party of Reagan, Eisenhower, and Lincoln. This is something else. I am not a fan of populism, and I detest blatant identity politics. You don't make America better by cutting her off from the world, and you won't solve racism by ignoring it or by hyper-focusing on it. You solve it by talking to people with different perspectives and implementing reasonable policies from your smartest people, and then you must be willing to adapt if those solutions aren't working. Our system was designed to find compromise, not this all-or-nothing divisive blame the other side for everything while solving nothing brand of politics we are currently experiencing.

They're always doing the thing they accuse others of. They're the guy who is always paranoid about his girl cheating on him because he cheats all the time lol.

Always with Trump. I know I've talked about that before but you can always tell what he's guilty of because it's whatever he says other people are doing. Then the news comes out that that's what he's been doing.
