Not that anyone should be filming in a polling location anyway and that makes the video a bit odd in the first place. I was actually thinking that. Why would the DNC try to cheat in a solid red state? Still, I don't know how these machines work. I don't know how secure they are and if a good hacker can switch up the votes if they want. Trump is doing all he can to help. What do you think women hear when he says "whether they like it or not"? It's not only insulting saying he knows more about their protection than they do, it's also straight up misogyny. Jamalisms, and Mythos27

Now ask yourself why no one is doing it and why @LongTimeFan threw shit on the idea as soon as he could. Not everyone is an honest broker and they'll use reasonable shit like this to achieve their goals. If politicians spent their time actually trying to solve problems Americans wouldn't be at each other's throats all the time. If dems are in charge of that district, they should be doing it for their consituents. Look at all the ghetto ass areas in LA. All dem supermajority. As far as @LongTimeFan, conservatives tend to be against government spending. I can't fault a guy for standing by his principles. Any program that gov just freely gives out, tends to lose value in the eyes of the receiver. It's just human nature. I grew up in Glendale, CA and we used to have a free shuttle called the Bee Line. It was initially free and people treated it like shit. Then they started charging 25 cents and things started getting noticeably cleaner, and now I'm not sure if it's even still around. People usually value things when they have to pay for it or work for it. Why do you think Japan has a culture of valuing and maintaining their public property? Japanese elementary school kids are given responsibility to take turns cleaning their school bathrooms as a mandatory part of their education. In America, we outsource that work to the janitors and our kids treat their facilities like shit. But in a world where we spend money so frivolously, what's another $10 per person on government ID? I get your point about government spending but we both know that this one-time thing would be a drop in the bucket. I don't really think this is a principled stance against government spending given the ridiculous things that both sides push to be funded on our dime that don't materially help anyone. He didn't even mention the costs in his post. He made reference to the tired personal responsibility narrative that republicans trot out when they don't feel like doing something but want to make it seem like the reason is principled. This is a no-brainer and if people are compromise-minded it would happen. If we could send two rounds of stimulus checks, we can certainly do this without much issue. It's all "fuck your feelings" until they're the ones on the receiving end. In this case Biden didn't even call them garbage. It's funny; they'll diminish Puerto Ricans and say that they're overreacting for being pissed that their literal homeland was insulted but have no problem making a huge deal out of thinking they were called garbage. Hard to take people like that seriously or think they're genuine. rns90, IsntLifeFunny, Jamalisms, and 1 other 3

They're also the newest addition to the Trump coalition from what I know. A lot might be first time voters who don't have an established pattern of voting. The numbers will certainly narrow to some degree but I don't think it'll be as big as it needs to be.

Just because they can go get it that doesn't mean that the government can't provide it if they're requiring it to vote. We also have these things called computers and phones where someone can possibly video call with whoever is distributing them to confirm their identity. There are a ton of creative solutions but curiously, when a real conversation about making it possible but accessible takes place, people like you who supposedly really want it come up with a bunch of road blocks. It's almost as if the whole point of you pushing it is to make sure that certain people can't vote. Not like voter suppression isn't on page one of the GOP playbook. I didn't say they had to pay for it. I said they needed to show up in person. It should be required to vote and if they don't drive it should be provided for free. I protested the mailing part and now your video process. Show up in person.

The showing up in person process is arguably a bigger impediment than the money. If the process is not open to people who can't get there physically then no voter ID for you. Neither I, nor anyone on the left really thinks it's a big deal so it's on your side to find common ground and a compromise. That's where the right struggles; you guys are big on criticisms but very short on solutions. Edited November 1 by Mythos27
