She didn't chose him due to identity politics. She wanted the anti-Jewish, pro-Palestine wing of the dem party to jump on board. How can you believe this even after seeing how she's done very little to court the pro-palestine vote? All she had to do to gain those voters in droves was signal that she would be different than Biden on the Gaza issue. She's done the opposite. The truth is that she viewed Shapiro as a social climber and someone who would try to upstage her to set up his own future run while she viewed Walz as a team player that could be her attack dog. We'll see if her calculation was correct but the reasoning you are attributing to her is objectively incorrect.

If she loses PA, the question of Walz over Shapiro will be front and center as it should be. It doesn't matter that Shapiro doesn't like to take a back seat to anyone, delivering PA is the most important thing in presidential politics right now as long as FL and TX are red. So to is the fact that postal voting is so accessible and that there are special postal vote booths just sitting their on the street???? In Ireland, you have to register to vote which requires a PPS (Social Security) number (Can only get one of these by personally attending a Police Office with ID and proof of address among other documents, then they send you a polling card. You then have to bring your ID to your designated polling station to vote and it is checked there. To vote by post you have to have a special reason that has to be accepted by the Government, this is often just students in college or Army members and isn't common. If you aren't in the country at the time of voting (living abroad or on holiday), you can't vote. I'd be all for voter ID if a free one was mailed to the residence of anyone over the age of 18 (or about to turn 18) and the cost of a replacement did not exceed say $10. This would also have to be done at least a year of from the nearest presidential election. The current attempts to institute voter ID is specifically aimed at depriving poorer Americans, who are often people of color and vote democrat, of their right to vote. Eliminate the hurdles and I'm all for it. As it stands, I'll trade the like 3 cases of voter fraud a year for millions to have the right to vote. And this would be a fair criticism. That's why I said that whether she did the right thing remains to be seen. Criticizing her for that however is fundamentally different from saying she did it to court pro-Palestine votes. Like Biden, she doesn't seem to give a fuck about Palestinian lives and voters. It's one of my biggest issues with her. We'll pressure her on that after she wins though.

She can win by taking MI/NC/GA as well if she doesn't win PA. In addition, there's other routes that include the swing states that don't include PA. But yeah PA would be nice. I totally agree with you that Republicans are not acting in good faith and are trying to suppress voters, and your idea is a solid one, but that doesn't change the fact that it's crazy to me that this stuff isn't normal in the US. Here, most everyone will have a driver license/passport that they paid for, but there is a free public services card for anyone who accesses social welfare or has an approved PPSN Mythos27, and IsntLifeFunny

It's gotta be terrifying to see such a powerful/influential nation behave so irresponsibly and erratically. I’m thinking probably option #2: the person reporting it either doesn’t understand the process or is misrepresenting the data…either deliberately or due to ignorance of how the votes are tabulated and data compiled. Remember the whole Mariscopa County/CyberNinjas audit after the 2020 election: on a near-daily basis , there were leaks about all the massive discrepancies and suspicious activities the audit was uncovering. And in every single case, it was soon determined that their “discrepancies” were due to auditors processing data incorrectly, failures to follow known best practices, and in some cases even pulling data from the wrong servers. CyberNinjas produced had a long laundry list of “suspicious” items they found…and in every single case, further inspection determined the data was completely legitimate and a perfectly normal part of election operations. By the time CyberNinjas turned in the final results of their audit, even their company president admitted the final report made no sense. Just another attempt by Republicans desperate to prove something that simply doesn’t exist. Jamalisms, Starkiller, and IsntLifeFunny

I'm just not seeing it. Kamala is doing well across the board, better than Biden at this point in 2020. The only demographic she's lagged behind from Biden is with Hispanics...I bet she catches up there after the shitshow last Sunday.

Yeah, I was looking at some of the early vote numbers in swing states on that link that @rns90 posted and the women are really turning out. Given how well Kamala has done with the very key demographic of white women, the numbers are very encouraging. I spend a good amount of time on facebook and for a while, I was worried about particularly all of these young men of color that have really fallen for the sexism that these gender/dating wars have created. I was thinking "damn, a lot of these guys will probably vote for Trump". But then I remembered that while there are a lot of guys feeling like that, there are also women who are on the other side of this issue. These women are fucking pissed, they heavily favor Harris/dems, and there are substantially more of them than the butt-hurt dudes online who talk shit but likely won't get off their ass to actually vote.
