OILERMAN
It's not ideal but it's not like anything underhanded was done. Biden stepped down, he couldn't be forced, he had to agree to it. That runs counter to the process and our norms. It's explainable by the situation but there are bad optics associated with this and I think anybody denying that is being kind of silly. I also think MAGA morons complaining about it is also silly, as if the foe outrage is anything but transparent, for the record, but I always prefer to admit the truth around the whole thing ... and circumventing a primary is less than ideal. I think it's safe to say there's literally no way to get actual voters involved at this point on the process. The best you'd be able to do would be to get the delegates to vote on candidates somehow, but other people would have to throw their hats in the ring. Personally given the challenges I listed in my last post, I think it's pretty likely that most other potential challengers realized that the logistical challenges were too big and would put them at a significant handicap. It's almost better for most of them to wait and try again in 2028 if Harris loses, or in 2032. oldschool, and Pragidealist

If someone wanted to run against Kamala they could It only took the entire coalition of the Democratic elite personally visiting him after begging for weeks and then Pelosi after basically making threats they could do it the easy way “or the hard way” that he agreed to step down. Oh and the media smearing him nonstop for the last month. When less than a day earlier his team said he was staying in the race and many didn’t even know he was stepping down until they read it on X. Totally his decision lmao. Edited July 23, 2024 by Mercalius

Titans279
It's funny that the GOP line is that Biden has dementia and that it's bad that the Democratic Party told him they thought he should drop out. Vance/Vivek/Don Jr are all on the bench at the moment. Maybe even Desantis if he’d take off those damn lifts. Bad look. Barron will 35 after we move on from those guys! Surely between all the Trump males they can breed enough sons to keep an infinite lineup of Trump males in the White House. Hell, maybe even a lady too! Wouldn’t that be great, the first female President being a Trump?!? How progressive! Edited July 23, 2024 by Mercalius

Newsome and Whitmer weren't go stake their political careers on saving 2024. The open primary was DOA and it surprised me so many congressional dems and party elites were pushing it.
