IsntLifeFunny
No matter how it plays out I have to give Biden credit for reading the room and not going down like RBG. It's certainly a shot in the arm for the Dems. Biden was the hand of steadiness against Trump going into the last election. That hand became increasingly shaky to the public and he made the right decision for the country. Probably depends on how both campaigns perform in the next 106 days. But this is a complete and total reset. But if I'm going to lose to a criminal like Trump, at least give me a candidate who can make the case against him. Kamala can, Biden couldn't. Mercalius
I’ve warned about the optics of how this played out. It won’t bother many on the left even though it sets a dangerous precedent. But that’s a long term issue you’ll have to deal with the ramifications of down the road. In the immediate future, some people can see it for what it is in real time, and regardless of the other candidate - are livid that their rights as voters were just circumvented. Dave Portnoy isn’t a genius. He’s not a political expert. But he’s not wrong and gives a very good summary of why folks should be livid about this. Even if you enjoy the end result and Harris ends up somehow winning. The means that got you there are pretty grimy. Titans279
I wonder if the use of the term bloodbath was an allusion to Trump's use of the term in the same context. Doubt it's a coincidence that another non-democratic wannabe dictator used the term as a veiled threat. On a lighter note, I also wonder what the Spanish term for bloodbath is. tgo

Did you or anyone you know get to vote for the Democratic presumptive nominee for 2024? It’s not after November. Biden wasn’t killed. It’s not like she *has* to be the nominee. There’s still going to be an election. You’d rather just have someone appointed than even a bare bones democratic process where voters get to have a say in the nominee? Be honest. The Dems could’ve taken this week to have a process virtually or whatever where ultimately each state’s delegates help decide the nominee. Get the voters involved in some way, however, official to at least make them feel like they had a say in the nominee. This was anything but that. There's no primary to see who the nominee would be. That runs counter to the process and our norms. It's explainable by the situation but there are bad optics associated with this and I think anybody denying that is being kind of silly. I also think MAGA morons complaining about it is also silly, as if the foe outrage is anything but transparent, for the record, but I always prefer to admit the truth around the whole thing ... and circumventing a primary is less than ideal. titanruss
