wiscotitansfan
There's no way anyone actually thinks that Henry is elite at this point, I get no one will be doing much of anything behind this OL but there is a massive difference between being an overpriced serviceable plus player and "elite" OILERMAN, BudsOilers, and ctm
OILERMAN
Henry is old in RB years and has had a workload over a 4 year span few have ever had. Of course he's slowed down. I'd guess since the team sucks they'll let him finish out the season regardless of how productive he is continuing to be the featured RB. Why waste carries on Spears anyway. I'd never pay a RB what the Titans paid Henry but he was productive through most of that contract. That in itself is rare. He's likely going to have a hard time getting paid(significant) in the offseason and worse finding a place where he can get anything more than time share carries. "Da King" will join the peasants. Popular Post japan
Safe to say whomever stopped us from trading Henry and getting even a low round pick made a big mistake. Dumb. MadMax, Justafan, BudsOilers, and 2 others 1

Dumb. I think the most realistic scenario is that a late round pick swap was all that was offered and it's really not worth negative fan sentiment for what will likely amount to absolutely nothing. charleytolar, and TerryBoats

TerryBoats
Early in his career, Henry couldn't get carries even behind struggling unproductive RBs. Now they refuse to stop running him in favor of more productive RBs OILERMAN

BudsOilers
Vrabel is the Henry guy. Kelly would probably just give all the carries to Spears if he could. OILERMAN

Justafan
Derrick Henry's Run Success rate puts him at 26th in the league. His YPC puts him at 22nd. #5 in attempts and 7th in Yards. 20th in TDs. 14th in first down conversions. Derrick Henry is elite at two things. He gets a TON of carries, and he doesn't fumble the ball. I don't think Spears is as good as we first thought, and I don't think he's good enough to take over as the full-time back from DH, but what is clear and should be to everyone is that DH is NOT elite anymore by any measure you want to use. The Top 6 NFL rushers naturally separate into two tiers: Top 3 (McCaffrey/Mostert/J Cook) then 4-5-6 (Etienne/Henry/Jacobs). Henry's number of carries are the best, meaning fewest carries) in that second tier of RBs who all have just about the same gross yards gained. Justafan
McCaffrey - 4.9 ypc, 11TD, 56 1D, 53.9% success rate Mostert - 5.3 ypc, 11TD, 38 1D, 55.7% success rate Cook - 5 ypc, 1TD, 34 1D, 56.9% success rate Etienne - 3.9 ypc, 7TD, 36 1D, 46% success rate Jacobs - 3.3 ypc, 5TD, 31 1D, 47% success rate Henry - 4.2 ypc, 4TD, 321D, 47.5% success rate Pretty easy to see that McCaffrey, Mostert, and Cook are damn good backs who run efficiently and help their offense. Etienne, Jacobs, and Henry are volume-backs who don't run efficiently and hurt their team. Lastly, several teams run an RBBC and gain better than the 4.2 YPC that Derrick Henry averages. He ranks 16th in that category, though Spears pulls the Titans up because of his much better yards per attempt. Getting a ton of carries is an asset in terms of durability and dependability, but it doesn't make you elite in any way, as the above stats amply demonstrate.
