Big Change to the Pre-Draft Evaluation Process

Recommended Posts

Having a third team seems like it would be nice in this situation. Obviously, it wouldn't allow for a clean team 1 vs team 2 game, but the Senior is about way more than the final game anyway. Besides, you could just round-robin it and play a half vs each of the other teams, so each team gets to play the equivalent of a full game.

Or expanded rosters for each event

This still reduces the number of reps each player has to make an impression on talent scouts.

It seems to me the big benefit of the Senior Bowl is to allow players from smaller schools that don't play on national TV every week and don't have NFL scouts showing up at their games on a regular basis to get in front of NFL teams. This change is definitely not going to help those players. Most of the juniors that are coming out are playing for division I schools and likely already have a lot of national exposure.

It is what it is...but it's definitely going to increase the gap between the "haves" and the "have nots".

The byproduct of this is that the East West Shrine Bowl will increase in relevance (which it has to some degree the past two years already). We're going to see a lot of those underrated seniors at the Shrine Bowl
