Good news, now employers legally have to give religious accommodations to members of the Satanic Temple.

Thats what you were so happy about, right?

I was thinking about freedom from religion.  Right to not have to see/hear a single proselytizing crumb of Xmas, Easter et al.  At least as long as I'm not REQUIRED to do so.

Like Google today.  Was again sponsoring a drag show celebrating Pride month as they have in the past, until a Christian group said Nope Nope Nope!  Not like they were required to go, much less even in the bldg.  I'm pretty sure would have not made it.  Just a shame not to let others have their fun since some groups, well, so flakey.

Doesn't bother me though.  Not a snowflake who gets upset when people do things not in my magic book.  Go for it and have fun.  Life is short.  Whatever gets you through the night is alright right?

Even if a worker's religion is Muslim? Buddhist? Or will those brown guys on your factory line piss you off when you're required to let them pray to Mecca?

This was my first thought, the US already gets off and bends over backwards for the major Christian bullshit but doesn't give a fuck about any of the other religions. How is this redneck gonna respond to when he realizes that the real accommodations that will be given are much more likely to be based on the religions that aren't the majority.

More great news!  Supreme Court ruled a Christian graphic artist who wants to design wedding websites can refuse to work with same-sex couples.

I have mixed feelings about this.  On one hand, if I had a business, I'd want a big sign that says I reserve the right to refuse service at my discretion...  On the other hand, generalized discrimination is bad.  Very bad.

Can't wait for a Non-Christian to refuse service on the basis that providing services to a Christian would violate their religious faith.

And it'll happen.

I like how they issued the popular rulings early and then waited to issue the unpopular rulings at the ass end of the session.

The affirmative action ruling was of course predictable and the core of the student loan forgiveness issue was predictable as well - although they rejected the first student loan case on standing.

That's true of pretty much every appellate court across the county, especially when the term ends just as the summer is starting.

Both of Texas' highest appellate courts did similar things this week (i.e. released a high number of decisions, a lot of which were going to be unpopular and/or controversial).

I vaguely remember the timing being similar on other controversial SCOTUS cases in the past as well.

It really is. The GOP is getting all of the things they have been setting up for years. Too bad for them it won’t last and will be the death of their party. The young people are pissed the fuck off and if they start voting the GOP won’t ever hold a majority in this country again. The fourth turning is coming and the young generation is going to take over.
