Lantern
With the shakey CB play we have going into 2023-24. I do not understant why we did not try to address the pass rush. Landry coming off an ACL? He is not going to be the savior of our pass rush. Even when healthy we needed another bookend, A healthy Landry is not going to solve anything. We still need more. Autry is a better interior lineman. Sure we have Tart, Autry, and Big Jeff.....but that guy we let walk, the injury prone Bud Dupree, well when he played we were a better team and actually got pressure on the quarterback. So we did not even try to address this. For a team relying on a stout defense, we sure are trusting a lot in interior defensive pressure. Every Titans team that had a legit chance to contend has had a legit pass rush. Last year in games without Dupree playing, quaterbacks stood there with loads of time picking us a part. Hard to feel good about our pass rush. Edited May 17 by Lantern titanruss, and pat

And yet the Titans pass rush was better with him. I respect your knowledge, know you watch every week. Do you really feel good about this current teams ability to get after the QB? Because I do not. In 2021 the pass rush dipped when Landry was limited with his hamstring injury not anything to do with Dupree, that contract JRob handed Dupree was absolutely horrific and it was zero surprise he was cut immediately when the contract allowed. Lantern
Sure the contract was horrible, But I am talking about results. This team has no reliable outside pass rush. Landry coming off an ACL cannot do it by himself. In the few games Dupree was "healthy" this team got pressure. When Landry went down with hamstring issues in 2021 who did we have left? Same old problem we will have this year. Edited May 17 by Lantern

Ultimately this team had much bigger issues to deal with offensively this offseason and are already paying 4 members of the DL good money (SImmons/Landry/Autry/Key) and simply doesn't have the resources to pump anymore into the position this year. kgsTitan, Justafan, IsntLifeFunny, and 4 others
Lantern
You did not miss anything. You make a good point. We did sign a guy, Key. But when the Titans cannot pressure the opposing teams QB this year you will remember this thread. You have to make QB pressure a priority, sure we have some quality there. But not to the point where we can rely on it winning games. If you are going to put your chips all in on defensive stops you cannot ignore pass rush. Are you really relying on Key and Landry coming off an ACL? I hope you are right, and Key (A Jags castoff, with his 17 starts a 4.5 sacks) is the "key" to actual success. BTW Dupree with half the starts had 4 sacks last year, Key who started every game had .5 more. Edited May 17 by Lantern titanruss

Offensive scoring is what wins Super Bowls the way the NFL is played and officiated now not dominant defense, there was a stat floating around just after the Super Bowl that was something like the last 7 Super Bowl Champions have averaged 27.1 pts a game or more during the regular season. If this team fails this year it will be down to lack of offensive firepower not lack of pass rush. This outdated philosophy is a much greater concern than worrying about not having enough pass rushers. I'm hoping Chris Harris can improve this CB group to better reflect the massive amount of draft capital that has been pumped into the position, not sure Farley will ever amount to anything but Fulton/Murphy-Bunting/McCreary can be a decent starting trio. Number9
Okay! This is it! I open this thread thinking it is some Colts fan scared of our pass rush, or maybe a Texans fan worried about what we are going to do to Stroud. I read this! We have a lot of ain't gots but this ain't one to worry about. I'm in charge of making the Kool-Aid. It's obvious someone has been bootlegging some inferior shit. I have watched Levis go from 'ah shit' to potential OROY. Chig gonna have 800yds. Now this! When you try to drink it before the end of August, there's no telling what kinda ideas might pop in your head. It's still green. Don't drink it and report anyone serving it to me.
