This is not discussed as a real factor. If a team gave Mahomes, Allen, Burrow or Herbert the "Non Exclusive Tender" teams would be offering monster fully guaranteed deals and two 1st rounders would be a total bargain. Mahomes yes not sure about the others. I heard Brian Mitchell say the other day teams know the Ravens are likely to match anything in the 130M-150M guaranteed range so why bother and set the baseline for the Ravens. I also 100% believe Jackson would already be signed if he had an agent. His public desire to get Watson level of guaranteed money is a pipe dream. That contract is an outlier. As I said before the real baseline is Cousins fully guaranteed 3 year extension a few years ago. bizzyeddie
Number9
https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-ringer-nfl-show/id1109282822?i=1000605144457 podcast about Colin Kaepernick since we are in the bidding war for Lamar, we need to fully understand what we walking into. Collusion. This has happened in the NFL before. This time agents also don’t want Lamar to represent himself. Even if correct to pay running QBs less, it will have to be part of scale like LT, RT, S all positions. PPQB RQB If it gets ugly, the NFL will have to establish who is a running QB. How do they quantify this? The NFL is violent sport. QBs get hurt all the time. When negotiating with a QB like Wince, has there been injury riders? Lots of comparisons Lamar could make, plus Lamar seems to be kinda uppidity. His mama is always described as an educated person. If he doesn’t receive any offers, it will look suspicious. He said if the Ravens gave him the "non-exclusive" franchise tag teams would be falling over themselves to sign him to an offer sheet..... L-O-L at the NFL media Solack sucks. That podcast was good when it was Robert Mays and Kevin Clark. Now it's pretty bad. The Athletic one is much better
titansfan
If Panthers do the unthinkable at #1 (taking Richardson at #1). Then I think you can expect Tennessee to be back in the conversation of trading up, to number 3. BlueThunder, and oldschool

Righteous
Jackson is a better QB than Tannehill. With that being said, you will never win the SB without being able to consistently make plays from the pocket. Jackson’s only value to the Titans would be putting butts in seats. Bongo59
I think Jackson can win. I just think you need to have a filthy D and stud RB to marry with him and health must be solid. That is the minefield. Baltimore would be wise to draft Richardson or Bijan if they are serious.

Kneeling didn't cost Kaepernick his career...lack of ability did. He was a backup QB who brought with him a media circus. No team is going to want to deal with that for the sake of a backup QB. If he was Mahomes he'd still be playing...and if Jackson was Mahomes he'd be getting all those offers you think teams should be giving him. Teams don't give a shit what agents think about Lamar representing himself. Hell, I'm sure they wish every player was representing himself. BudsOilers
I think teams prefer the agent as the buffer. In negotiations, sometimes criticism can sour a relationship if it's directly to the player plus you take some of the emotional reactions out of it. Lamar's challenge is the passing and his style of play....and whether the league has caught on in the context of someone wanting 45 M APY and at least most of the contract fully guaranteed. First 2 seasons as the starter (2019/2020): 106.6 Passer Rating 62 TD (8.0%), 15 INT (1.9%), 7.6 YPA Last 2 seasons: 88.9 Passer Rating, 33 TD (4.7%), 20 INT (2.8%), 7.2 YPA. Missed 10 of 34 games (30% of the time). Thrill, Callidus, IsntLifeFunny, and 1 other 3

Missed 10 of 34 games (30% of the time). Agents also have sort of text book responses to low ball offers. They’ve done this before and aren’t going to burn a bridge from a bad offer. They’re also there to talk sense into the player when it appears they’ve got the best offer possible. It seems like Lamar has taken all of this personally and is set on this arbitrary 200 million guaranteed number. BudsOilers
Mythos27
Lamar's problem is that he's not Mahomes but wants to be treated like Mahomes. OILERMAN, charleytolar, Thrill, and 1 other 2

He said he never really wanted to know what the front office felt about him because they are always trying to maximize value and use a player's faults to do so. He also made another great point that agents can call around and talk to teams about market value and help the player understand what the market is for them before FA starts. Jackson couldn't make those inquiries because he was technically still under contract with the Ravens. TLDR Jackson fucked himself throughout this process because he didn't want to pay an agent 1-3% of a massive payday.
