Settling for FGs = losing strategy

Of course that's not what people have said and your inability to grasp the details that matter when trying to blame someone is why it's far more nuanced than you want to admit.  You wanted to ride Rob

Hopefully Shudak shows enough to supplant Bullock long term.    Bullock is an overpaid mediocre patchwork solution at the position.

You'd have to have some level of confidence to throw a rookie in at this point. I dislike Bullock, especially long-term, but he isn't horrible. For kickers that are good enough to make the NFL, it is largely mental from that point on. You can have all the talent in the world but get in your own head (Aguayo, Gostkowski with us, many many others).

I don't see a world where Bullock isn't cut this offseason (if not before then), so if the team believes in Shudak, it's worth giving him a shot.

Bullock may not be ready with calf tear.

@Jamalisms on a scale of 1-10 how worried are you that your narrative will bust because Robinson has actually had his Kicker Of The Future on the roster this whole time?

If what you imply was the narrative I actually expressed, I suppose I would be maybe 30% worried.

I'm not at all worried that the results of the past will change, however, so my actual narrative that they have done a poor job over many years isn't at risk. It would also be quite nice if they ever got to the point where kicker was a dependable aspect of this team, so all in all, if this kid did well, that would only highlight how bad they've been and I would open my office for apologies.

Would explain the open roster spot. I imagine Shudak has been kicking for a while now. They just didn’t need him until now potentially.

I’d assume the roster spot would be for Philips to come off IR. But they could use it for a K, either Shudak or some vet.

They could also sign a K to the PS and activate him on Saturday if Bullock can’t go.

Shudak holds Iowa record for career field goal percentage at 82.8 percent (24-29) .   In 2021, his field goal percentage was 85.7 percent on 24-28 attempts.   His dad was a kicker at Iowa State.  His 108 points in 2021 ranks as fifth-best single season scoring total in school history.  He was a walk on so no wonder TN likes him.  He was granted scholarship prior to spring semester, 2020.  Iowa stats show he can kick in shit weather and he has a big leg on KOs.  He avgs close to 65 yds in iowa which is nasty in November and December.
