Popular Post titanskick8851
Back another year to play Titanstradaumus and guess the Final 53 man roster. After 6-7 practices and with a week to Pre Season Game 1, let’s layout the 53 as of now and where some of the battles and biggest decisions are going to layout. Here we go… QB (3) 1. Ryan Tannehill 2. Logan Woodside 3. Malik Willis Thoughts: At this stage, think we can all agree this is going to be 3 spots, which we have not done in forever. Willis did get an extended look with the 2’s today, but overall Woodside would have to really falter in the joint practices and pre season games, for them to consider Willis for #2 to start the year. Can pretty much check they three off with permanent marker. RB (4) 4. Derrick Henry 5.Hassan Haskins 6. Dontrell Hilliard 7. Trenton Cannon Jordan Wilkins Julius Chestnut Thoughts: Top 3 are no brainers. The question is going to be is Cannon worth holding onto as a KR specialist and gunner on Special Teams and taking a number away from another position. The staff have raved about him in terms of ST usage so for now going to give him the upper hand. Wilkins is simply vet training camp depth. I do think Chestnut will get a ton of run in the PS games though and look good. Hopeful practice squad addition. FB (1) 8. Tory Carter Thoughts: No brainer. Took the role from Blasingame last year. Question will be can he help enough at H-Back for them to to only go with 3 TE’s on the roster. WR (6) 9. Robert Woods 10. Treylon Burks 11. Nick Westbrook-Ikhine 12. Kyle Phillips (slot/return specialist) 13. Racey McMath 14. Dez Fitzpatrick Josh Malone Reggie Roberson Jr. Cody Hollister Terry Godwin Mason Kinsey (slot/return specialist) Brandon Lewis Thoughts: 1-4 are easy. McMath is making plays daily and seeing to be pretty safe especially with his ST work. The main battle appears to be Fitzpatrick vs. Malone. Draft pick vs. journeyman vet. I want to lean Malone, but I still think I’ve seen Fitzpatrick being reported running with the 1’s more than Malone. Can Malone make more plays and play some additional roles on ST to jump Fitzpatrick? Could Roberson surprise and earn a role as a key ST gunner and KR specialist over Cannon? Some good battles to watch over the next few weeks. TE (4) 15. Austin Hooper 16. Chig Okonkwo 17. Geoff Swaim 18. Tommy Hudson Briley Moore Thomas Odukoya Thoughts: 1-3 seem all like locks. Battle here is Hudson vs Moore and what they think Carter can do. Whoever is in this role will have to play a large ST role. Hudson made some nice catches in limited time last year but obviously has some injury concerns. Moore seems to be making plays consistently for the 2’s and 3’s in practice. With the potential heavier reliance on 12, 13, and 22 formations, having a 4th TE is key. OT (3) 19. Taylor Lewan 20. Dillon Radunz 21. Nicholas Petit-Frere Carson Green Derwin Gray Cheistian DiLauro Jalen McKenzie Andrew Rupcich Thoughts: Easy too 3 here. Excited to see Radunz in PS games. Also eager to see NPF in games. I think McKenzie has some potential and is a likely Practice Squad edition. OG (3) 22. Nate Davis 23. Aaron Brewer 24. Jamarco Jones Jordan Roos Hayden Howerton Thoughts: Davis is a lock. Seems like Brewer is a favorite of the staff and has been running with the 1’s most of camp thus far. Jamarco Jones biggest notes are a fight with Lewan and then hurting his leg. Could we see a legit free agent brought in here after 1-2 PS games? (Cough Ereck Flowers cough). We shall see. If Jones is healthy, he also can sub as back up RT as well. C (2) 25. Ben Jones 26. Corey Levin Willie Wright Xavier Newman Thoughts: Jones is easy. With Munyer on IR, Levin has an easy way to a roster spot if he plays decent in the pre season. Newman is an interesting potential Practice Squad addition. DL (6) 27. Jeffery Simmons 28. Denice Autry 29. Teair Tart 30. Demarcus Walker 31. Naquan Jones 32. De’Shawn Hand Jayden Peevy Kevin Strong Larell Murchison Haskell Garrett Sam Okuayinonu Thoughts: The DL on this roster are legit. It’s the deepest group and they could even potentially trade some guys. That’s how good this group is. Simmons, Autry, Tart, Jones seem like easy locks. You also have Walker, whom the coaches and his teammates have raved about, so I think he is in. Then at the back end you have Hand, Strong, Murchison, and the there UDFAs battling for 1-2 spots. Murch still seems out of favor and got banged up recently. Hand has some potential and Peevy seems like he could be the next great UDFA find on the DL for Robinson. Overall, I think they load up here and keep 6 due to Autry and Walker’s ability to play inside and outside. EDGE (4) 33. Harold Landry 34. Bud Dupree 35. Ola Adeniyi 36. Rashad Weaver David Anenih Justin Lawler Thoughts: Easy here. The top 4 will make it. Autry and Walker’s ability to play outside enables them to go light here. Anenih has some practice squad potential. LB (5) 37. David Long Jr. 38. Zach Cunningham 39. Monty Rice (PUP) 40. Dylan Cole 41. Chance Campbell Joe Jones Jack Gibbens Thoughts: I definitely think the bottom of this group could change up and a lot depends on Rice’s health. Could they add a solid vet to this group? Potentially. Cole made plays on special teams last year and they invested a pick in Campbell. Jones could push for that spot as well. CB (5) 42. Kristian Fulton 43. Caleb Farley 44. Elijah Molden 45. Roger McCreary 46. Chris Jackson Shakur Brown Greg Mabin Tre Swilling Tre Avery Kenneth George Jr. Terrell Bonds Thoughts: Fulton, Farley, Molden, and McCreary obviously safe. Would have to think Chris Jackson is safe with his ability to play multiple spots. Question will be will they keep a 6th CB? Brown is getting some praise from the coaches and has made some plays of late. Mabin also has been solid in game action whenever called upon. Battle for roster spots here is RB4 vs. TE4 vs. DL6 vs. CB6. M S (4) 47. Kevin Byard 48. Amani Hooker 49. A.J. Moore 50. Theo Jackson Joshua Kalu Shyheim Carter Michael Griffin II Thoughts: Another relative straight forward group. Eager to see Jackson and Moore vs. TEs and if they can fill the Cruikshank role. Could Kalu challenge for a spot? I doubt it. Could see a late veteran addition here as well. K (2) 51. Randy Bullock Caleb Shudak (PUP) Thoughts: Bullock has been great according to reports. I think they end up keeping Shudak on the practice squad once he is healthy. P (2) 52. Brett Kern Ryan Stonehouse Thoughts: Stonehouse probably will give Kern all he can handle this pre season. Overall, I think Stonehouse is the Punter of the future, but they’ll give Kern one more chance to return to the weapon he was. LS (1) 53. Morgan Cox Thoughts: I got none lol IR C Daniel Munyer CB Chris Williamson (waived injured) Thoughts: you never root for injuries but it is good to know Munyer won’t be in there botching snaps. Overall it was pretty straight for this year due to the talent on the team. A few spots will be up in the air that will inevitably come down to how healthy they are coming out of the pre season games and what they decide to do with some of those last few spots. Biggest battles heading into the First game week: WR6 - Malone vs. Fitzpatrick vs. Roberson Jr. TE4 - Hudson vs. Moore vs. Carter (at least in terms of ability) DL6 - Hand vs. Strong vs. Peevy vs. Murchison CB5/CB6 - Jackson vs. Brown vs. Mabin P1 - Kern vs. Stonehouse What are all of your thoughts? Who’s in your 53 as of now? Who might we look to sign to fill in some weaker spots? Starkiller, begooode, SleepingTitan, and 4 others
AussieTitanFan08
- Still find it hard to believe they will keep 5 RB (4RB plus 1FB) think Cannon will miss out. - With durability concerns on the OL I think they keep 9 - The preseason games and joint practices will give a clearer picture but I like Peevy over Hand on the DL - Similar to the OL there are durability concerns at CB wouldn't be surprised if they keep 6 oldschool, begooode, titanskick8851, and 1 other 3
Starkiller
I tend to agree with this 53. I’m sure the bottom of the roster will vary somewhere (6th WR, 6th DT) but it’s pretty accurate to me. I do assume they will keep 9 OL, but I don’t know if that costs them a 5th ILB or a 6th WR or a 4th TE. titanskick8851
cshumak2
I think their is a decent chance they keep Roberson as WR 6. His KR abilities would allow them to move on from Cannon. 4 RBs and a FB seems like a lot. Also think Shakur Brown has a chance to make it as a 6th CB titanskick8851
2ToneTerror
Fitzpatrick isn’t making the final 53. Practice squad at best. SleepingTitan

Oh you’re right on the contract - my bad. Saw that Hudson and Moore got some reps ahead of him at times this week so figured he was in trouble. 5 TE’s then! Nah, can probably just stash Moore in the PS for another year. titanskick8851
tgo
I do think with both McMath and Kalu on board + Campbell and Cole and Rice, that Cannon is very expendable and has not shown much thus far. titanskick8851

He was a good DT when he could stay healthy. But it’s a wide open competition for that 6th DL job. As for Kalu, I’d put him on PS and just call him up for games they just want a special teams guy and don’t need an injury replacement. I don’t think anyone would pick him up off waivers even when he runs out of protected activations. tgo

Vrabel treated yesterday as a light day for veterans (giving some the day off and limiting reps for others) so I wouldn't read much into Moore (who I am a fan of) getting a few snaps higher up the depth chart yesterday. tgo

I really like Garrett though and I know the Titans like him a lot.
AussieTitanFan08
Got a feeling we will see a veteran addition to the OL shortly on the back of a few guys already getting banged up at camp, Ben Jones has already missed 2.5 days, Munyer is done for the year, Jamarco Jones went hobbling off yesterday. tgo

AussieTitanFan08
Just now, tgo said: Is it possible that Jones and Dupree are mostly rest related? Partially yes but I think Jones is dealing with something minor maybe that knee he has had trouble with over recent years. No idea what is going on Dupree he participated on the first day in pads and then missed a couple of consecutive practices, hopefully he is back today (should find out shortly if he is practicing) tgo
