tgo
It seems like the policy of the United States remains to not allow Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon. Whether this is the right policy, I'm honestly not sold either way. Israel is preparing for war with Iran because the nuclear deal talks are in a critical phase and Blinken said the other day that he is no longer optimistic about a deal getting done (things shifted when Russia pulled out of good faith negotiations, another side affect of this Ukraine War). The United States is going to be in a tough spot. Israel at some point will attack Iran on a massive scale if a deal is not reached. My guess is that the US will support Israel. A few weeks back, in between negotiating with NATO on Ukraine and holding high level meetings with the Europeans, the WH hosted the Israeli Defense Minister and several Israeli Generals for "high stakes" in person talks. Things are about to get even more volatile geopolitically and the Iran situation is in a critical phase, nearing a tipping point. The US needs to increase defense spending and prepare for war on multiple fronts if it comes to our doorstep. The Two Front War Defense policy needs to be restored immediately, and an arms race must begin, and we have to decidedly win it. On AUKUS - the Austrailian / UK / United States Defence Alliance They recently extended their pact to include joint development and technology sharing on hypersonic missiles. The US last week successfully conducted tests of their new hypersonic missile system from an aircraft, per multiple reports. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2022/apr/05/aukus-pact-extended-to-development-of-hypersonic-weapons Things are ratcheting up globally - get ready for it. This is just the beginning of a much more volatile global security environment than any of us have seen in a long time. oldschool

begooode
That's what Israel does in aggressively protecting itself against hostile neighbors on all fronts. And they certainly subscribe to asking for forgiveness vs asking for permission. They'll wait until the max investment is made in their opponents' capabilities, then strike to optimize the loss and amplify the deterrent effect. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Opera tgo, and ChemEngr79
