Julio on the sideline: load management, injury, or something else?

How many things have been "non-issues" that posters and/or Paul Kuharsky have tried to make into issues?  I feel like it's a weekly thing.  There's always something for people to complain about, even after a dominating win against a division rival.

Asking a question isn't "making an issue" or "complaining".  Your #1 receiver being on the sideline during a drive toward the end of a game you're "dominating" by 6 points is not a nothing burger. It's peculiar at the very least. Stop acting like it's not.

This is such a non issue...

Much ado about nothing

I’m thinking small injury that made Vrabel be cautious today.

I don’t think internally it’s a big deal.  But much of the stuff we talk about is just message board fodder.

Basically we had WRs who could do the job well enough of what we were doing at point of the game (running the ball). It was a chance to preserve Julio early in the season. It's not a big deal

All of the stuff we talk about is just message board fodder. That's why message boards exist. On message boards everything is both a big deal and means nothing. This is 4th wall type stuff. Pointing this out is like Ryan Reynolds roasting Hugh Jackman in the middle of a Deadpool movie without any of the humor.

But in getting back to the topic... all we have to go on is our own speculations really because Vrabel is a big walking neon sign full of coach speak and platitudes. He isn't straight forward with much of anything, especially when it comes to injuries, so him "clearing things up" today did little for me.

Julio isn't just another cog in the machine. To pretend he is is disingenuous and kinda contradicts all the yickity yack we did on here when it was but mere speculation that we might trade for him. If holding him out was just "precautionary" and he could have gone back out there "if we needed", like everyone keeps saying, then why couldn't he have at least been out there as a decoy on that drive? Does his being out there mean you are obligated to throw a pass to him or have him run routes? Wouldn't his being out there naturally draw focus to him? If whatever injury/tweak he supposedly had was enough of a concern that we weren't comfortable with him even blocking in the run game then is it really accurate to say that he could have gone back out there if needed? Isn't that a little bit more than "load management"?

These aren't accusations or assumptions. Just questions.

It doesn't seem to be right now. It was at least a slightly bigger deal when we were only up by 6. And it would have been a far bigger deal had we not gotten enough yards on that drive to kick the field goal and had a blown coverage on the Colts next series that resulted in them scoring a touchdown and ultimately winning the game.

It's kinda like going for it on 4th to ice the game. Succeed and everyone sucks your dick for a week. Fail and everyone wants to cut it off for a month. But then Vrabel seems to welcome that sort of thing...

Jones is injured to some degree, and we’ll find out if he practices.  That’s all Vrabel will say.

Has Vrabel ever come out and explicitly stated why he is so vague with injury reports? Like, is there a proper MO or philosophy behind it? Or is it just an off the cuff decision because he can't be bothered to be more specific?

It’s competitive information.  Opponents can use it to attack players in a variety of ways.
