If it was Republicans, they would get rid of the filibuster and then, on the last day of their majority, they would sign into law a requirement that the filibuster comes back and never goes away.

AOC, once again, exactly right.

Of course not because you know better.

Extended arguments on this site are typically fruitless. If you see yourself a certain way how am I going to convince you otherwise and why should I invest so much time into that goal?

I like to argue but that is pushing it, even for me!

Democrats are already fucking up the Biden agenda by blocking the reconciliation bill. And yes, until they get that through the Senate there is no reason to pass the infrastructure bill that was just for show.

Allowing that bill to become law before passing the reconciliation bill simply gives conservative Dems the chance to kill the real agenda while pretending it that they got shit done.

Conservative Democrats have made no secret of their desire to basically gut/kill the reconciliation bill. For them, it already served its purpose, it got progressives to vote for their infrastructure bill in the Senate. Now that they think they got what they wanted, conservative democrats do not want to hold up their end of the bargain. Manchin basically saying he'll only support 1T to 1.5T reconciliation bill is a massive slap in the face to progressives, as in their mind they have already negotiated the reconciliation bill down from 6T to 3.5T. And we all know Manchin probably speaks for quite a few conservative Dem senators, so progressives will have to make some concessions, but not another 2T to 2.5T in my opinion.

If the infrastructure bill fails to pass, conservative democrats will just blame progressives anyways, so in my view the progressive should do what they can to get what they want. It's supposed to be a negotiation between the two factions, not progressives always bending over and taking it. Hopefully now that both factions have done their saber rattling, they'll truly start negotiating with each other.

If it fails, and I'm starting to think it will at this point, it's typical Democrats. They never can never get out of their own fucking way.

Just because I criticize leftists doesn't not make me a progressive. I've criticized all camps under the Dem coalition when they've been wrong...

LOL keep telling yourself that. 🙄

Prove me incorrect or shut the fuck up

Why don't you shut the fuck up. Your post history proves contrary to your claims. All you ever do is fucking blame progressives for everything yet you try to act like you are one? Get the fuck out of here with that bullshit.

Page 9 I blamed both sides for this reconciliation bill going off the rails. Stop your juvenile, emotional madness.

Juvenile, emotional madness? Oh get the fuck over yourself. One post blaming both sides doesn't negate hundreds of other posts doing exactly what I said. Try again.

If they fuck this up, then it will make the midterms rough.

Typical dems. Get control of congress and the Presidency on a message of massive reform and they can't get their shit together. I know it sucks but the progressives should concede on BIF and accept a paired down Reconciliation Bill. It's the only chance at keeping the House in '22. The goal should be to work on expanding the majority in the Senate which has a favorable map in '22 and Neutrilize Sinema and Manchin.

MODS TO BIDEN: BIF NOW OR BUST — Sen. KYRSTEN SINEMA (D-Ariz.) delivered a tough message to President JOE BIDEN at a private meeting Wednesday, we’re told: If the House delays its scheduled Sept. 27 vote on the bipartisan infrastructure plan — or if the vote fails — she won’t be backing a reconciliation bill.

INSIDE THE MODS’ CALCULATION: Progressives think if they band together and threaten to kill the infrastructure bill, it will convince moderate members to go along with the larger reconciliation package. But multiple sources — including a senior Democratic aide and several in the centrist camp — tell us the left is misreading their colleagues.
