2ToneTerror
In all seriousness, how do you think teams will attempt to defund us? Talking heads are already shaking their heads…but I’ve seen legit coach/coordinators saying the same things. Opening day, Arizona kicks off… Titans receive and are down at the 28yrd line. Out trots Tannehill, Henry, that healthy Oline, Jones, AJ, Reynolds, Firsker. How do you defend? How many in the box? What coverage scheme? Heavy pressure? Blitz? No blitz?…. XAEA12
I think the biggest problem is not even how many are in the box, but the way linebackers overcommit so much to stop Henry. The middle is going to be so wide open, and that's something that you just can't do with Julio Jones. I really expect them to try to stop the pass first and hope for the best with the runs. I'm expecting more big runs this year from both Henry and Evans. This truly is the type of move that takes an offense from very good to bonkers elite. The field will be too spread thin for defenses. Popular Post Starkiller
Teams with an elite CB will surely try to win 1 on 1 on one side and double the other guy. Other teams may just keep 2 both safeties back and bracket both WRs. I think teams that are stout enough to stop the run with just the front 7 are going to have the best bet. Stacking the box probably isn’t a real option anymore. FRT, ChemEngr79, Eighteen, and 2 others
PhinFan1968
The most demoralizing thing in this game is getting pounded into oblivion on the ground. I still think teams will try to stop that first, for a while. XAEA12

Puck
teams are going to have to get to Tannehill a lot quicker. with the way these 2 run routes and their ridiculous catch radius' (radii ?) they could practically play jump ball. these boys are open even when they're doubled and surrounded. Tannehill's gotten to the point where he's confident to brute force it to AJ, it might take a few games to gel but i expect the same confidence with JJ prior to mid-season. somebody if not everybody is going to have a monster year won't it be marvelous to have this whole group selected to the Pro Bowl (who cares, but it's warm and fuzzy prestige)

Justafan
Obviously there will be different packages to stop different looks and the Titans will still rotate people around. No one look will stop them which is what makes them dangerous. If it was as simple as just put your best cover guy on one side, double the other, and then stack the box everyone would just do that. It's all about matchups and the Titans will be able to manufacture a lot of favorable matchups for guys who do dangerous things with the ball in their hands. If the defense makes some improvement in pass defense, they should be much improved because they can be much more one dimensional, and aggressive, knowing they will usually play with a lead. IowaOiler
They'll try to do what we did to the Colts and Manning...sustain drives and keep the offense on the bench. If our defense can be even average, we have a really good chance to do some great things. If it's the same shit show we saw last year, our offense will be less effective (unable get into a rhythm watching from the sidelines) and we will be a one-and-done team in the playoffs, at best. titansfan
Defensively, if teams can generate a consistent rush and pressure with their front four then they will have a chance. We don't have a dynamic tight end, so opposing linebackers will not be strained to cover a wide range. What's going to hurt is when teams are forced to play their nickel packages for majority of the game and don't have the size at the second level to tackle Henry if he breaks into the second level. Everything for opposing defenses is going to be predicated at beating our offensive line quickly. Edited June 8, 2021 by titansfan
Number9
Against the Titans, I would try to make life difficult for RT. I hate writing this, but I think we see teams trying to make him remember them on Tuesday. If you can shake Tanne, you take away enough of the offense to stay with the Titans. Mythos27
Henry is so dangerous that you can't really just let him "get his". Most elite backs will put up like 120 and a TD if you don't key on them; Henry will go for 200+ 3 TDs and like 3 40+ yard runs. Dude explodes on defenses like a dynamic receiver would from a production stand point. There are few backs that can do this. Dude is special. TeamRamrod
I suspect teams are going to just throw all kinds of weird pressure packages at us. Seems like the only way to stop it on paper is to overwhelm Downing, Tannehill, and the offensive line.
