Titans Hire Jim Schwartz as Senior Assistant

Recommended Posts

Schwartz's ties to Belichick have been a great resume filler and name dropper, but it's overstated. He was basically an unpaid intern and spent more time with scouts than with the coaches. However, Belichick did put in a good word for him with Reese and Fisher.

With that said, it will be interesting to see how he and Vrabel work together.

Schwartz is a very smart guy who understands the league very well   It can only be a good thing imo

In Madden they don't have a senior assistant position.....

Would not doubt if Amy forced another senior D staff with HC experience to be hired in some capacity.. for a number of reasons.

It's obvious Vrabel was in charge of the D last year and it failed because of his schemes and his D history is not exactly glowing ( or even average)

It's also pretty easy to Doubt vrabel is fully in charge of this hiring decision as he's too prideful to do this on his own.

He can claim whatever he wants and say he brought staff in.. but it smells a lot like a forced senior hire to continue to help the younger HC out in his weaknesses

Here we go again with the Tard Army making shit up again.......

There's zero evidence Amy is dictating coaching hires let alone Robinson......And FFS Dean Pees was offered the same fucking role that Schwartz seemingly is going to do.

You mean when Haynesworth had 2 of the greatest seasons ever for a DT?

I mean the guy did go on to have successful , opportunist defenses in Philly.

Maybe you’re right but I remember seeing him in the coaches room with Saban and all of those guys gameplanning in that 30 for 30 on the Browns.

Seems like a very solid move, Schwartz has a ton of experience and was always a decent coach.

Happy to see Vrabel is at the very least getting an experienced voice that is outside of his coaching/playing tree.

You mean when he had Fletcher Cox and an insane 8 man DL rotation?

Talent matters......We saw Schwartz coordinate some excellent defenses with the same scheme and coaches (2002/2003/2007/2008) and then they had some bad ones when the talent was poor (2001 w/injuries, 2004/2005 due to cap cuts/poor drafting).

I don't see this as a Vrable hire at all.

This shows that there are some serious concerns about the coaching on the defensive side of the football.

I believe that he will be able to help the titans evaluate defensive talent in the draft especially at db.
