Then the Senate parlamaterian ended any hope as Biden had already stated he would go along with that ruling. Right or wrong Biden is a Senate institutionalist. So, can't really fault Biden all that much on the $15 min wage. Oh and there is no line item veto. The $2000 check, yeah that might hurt Biden and the Dems in 2022. During both elections they promised $2000 checks and did not really say anything about $1400 (+$600) until after the election. Bad messaging there. That's been the biggest mistake so far. Some people will be stupid and hold this against Democrats at the polls like nothing was done too. As if punishing Democrats like they're some wayward teenager is productive for anyone TitansPDO

Democrats should do nothing but hammer home the positives of the bill and hammer the fuck out of the GOP for all voting against it. Remind the people again and again that the GOP doesn’t give a damn about them. IsntLifeFunny, luvyablue256, and MadMax

Way more than the blanket "2k checks" mentioned during the election.

That's the funny thing. People are arguing about progressive policies etc...... The progressives are winning, it's just taking time. A family of 4 is about to get a check for 5600, that's uncharted territory. Also once the Republicans opened the wallet when Covid struck and Trump said 600 wasn't enough it was a free pass to hand out money. The fact that a 15.00 minimum wage increase getting taken out is what is upsetting so many shows how progressive we've come. IsntLifeFunny

The GOP ended the filibuster when they passed their tax cut 51-49. It's over.

Changing the filibuster rules rather than eliminating it has been discussed on this board in depth. The whole thing now rests with Sienma. Titans279
Republicans control the courts and the majority of states so I expect a lot of changes to make voting harder in 2022 IsntLifeFunny, and tgo

What we will have to see is if the Supreme Court will take the case. If they do then they’ll find some fucked off justification even if Roberts dissents. luvyablue256

The Dems need to pass the voting rights act.... Doing so will require nuking (not going to happen) or changing the filibuster. Now that Covid relief is done voting rights is the single biggest priority for 2022. Otherwise the suppression tactics the GOP are using may hand them the House and Senate and it will push out the chance for voter reform a decade or longer. Popular Post TitansFan777
Voting reform has to be their issue moving forward. Infrastructure would be nice, but voting reform to block the Q party from implementing Jim Crow 2.0 across dozens of states is much more important and will help enable future legislation. Titans279
This is where the Republicans are now. Still, he's ignoring the role that he and others in right wing media play in this being true. It's going to stay in their heads because they and Republican politicians will keep talking about it for years.

What gets me is - I'm just not sure what in the world the publisher's plans for pulling some Dr. Seuss books has to do with government or politics.
