When he was hired he tried to hire Ryan Day as Offensive Coordinator. When Coombs was the secondary coach I never heard any rumors Vrabel wanted to promote him to Defensive Coordinator. I sat near his wife in Baltimore last year in the playoffs. He jumped into the stands after the win and hugged her for a long time. It was obvious they already knew they were going back to Ohio State and this was before the end of the playoff run and before Pees retired. So just wasn’t sure when that story ever started? We need their special teams coach. Bama looked great on coverage. They had two gunners angle in to the receiver on a fair catch, and then two more went past and posted up at the goal line to down it in case he let it go. Absolute precision. Then the guy that got thrown out of the Clemson game for targeting (also the LSU game). I don't know how fast he is but he will flat hit you. I think he cracked a few ribs with that hit (and it looked fairly clean to me). James Skalski. Yup...note to any of you youngin's out there that read the board. BudsOilers
I said something similar in one of the threads the other day. Lawrence IMO is far from a sure thing.

Also the situation these QB's are drafted into make a huge difference, coaching and personnel make a huge difference to how a QB develops, I still maintain Mahomes wouldn't be the same player if he wasn't drafted by the Andy Reid and the Chiefs, if Mahomes had ended up at the Jets or Browns he probably looks like a completely different player than he does now. It would have been a clean hit 20 years ago, but nowadays they don't let you intentionally try to hurt other players ala Chuck Bednarik.

Exactly. The Jaguars will bring TL back down to earth. They could have drafted Andrew Luck/Deshaun Watson and they would be signing as backups after four years. The NBA stopped all that shit with the lottery.
Number9
Nobody ever agrees with me, but QBs coming into the NFL need to be developed. The NFL is an entirely different game. Most teams throw them out there game one and say "This young man is different, he has the skillset and the mental maturity to start in the NFL." You overpay the QBs and they ruin franchises because of the cap. We paid Mariota 22M to show everybody he was just not a NFL caliber QB. Titans279
Drafting QBs in the first round is basically a coin flip even with so called sure thing generational talents. You can't be surprised with a boom or bust of any of them.

I've been saying this for years, ever since Steve McNair's rookie season in 1995. All of the fans here wanted him to start immediately. People say you can't learn anything by watching on the sidelines, but that's just bullshit. Most QB's need years to develop in the NFL. oldschool, and Number9 1
