How could we have handled this differently?

They could have brought Succop back to compete in TC (they cut him in March) on a reduced contract.  They opted to roll with Joseph until right before the season when they signed Gostkowski.

That being said, hard to criticize it too much as Succop looked to be done.

It goes without saying that kickers are streaky like relief pitchers in baseball.  Also, as we've seen with Gostkowski, the long snapping and hold is integral to the process.  Some of the Titans kicking issues this year were squarely on Brinkley.

Succor sucked before we picked him up and he got good again. This story has happened before.

he needs a change of scenery every few year because gets complacent.

the big issue was not bringing in a fuck ton of competition and then bringing in another NE guy just because he went there and holding on too long ... just because of NE

Kicker needs to be addressed next off-season. Maybe punter too considering Kern is getting up there in age.

If Gostpepper is better served by having a new longsnapper and he starts hitting his kicks maybe they can wait a year, but this shit is getting silly and could derail any potential playoff success.

Everyone called for Succop to be cut. Everyone.  Jrob gave him every opportunity to come back and prove his worth and Succop stunk it up.

At some point you have to cut ties and move on. No regerts.

I agree.  And that last word is the cherry on top.  Perfection.
