Lewan's ACL recovery may run into next year. Seems like Kelly may stick around next year with a possibility of him starting the year at LT while Wilson starts at RT.

Or maybe Sambraillo gets re-signed to play LT again.

Doesn’t sound like it. He had a clean tear and no MCL or meniscus damage. He should be a full go by training camp.

If Sambraillo plays well, he is gone. It will be his only opportunity to cash in. Otherwise he will be a swing OT the rest of his career fighting for a roster spot.

If he plays ok or struggles, we might as well bring him back to fill in for Lewan until he is healthy. That way we have a swing OT on roster still. Unless we have another option in FA or try to find a late round guy

Lewan will be more than fine for next year. ACL is  9 months max & players seem to be recovering better every year or two.

The ACL is not the monster it used to be, only for the current year. Lewan will be more than ready to start preseason game 1 next year if they wanted him to.

Yeah, gonna be some tough choices, hard to make the math work with the condensed cap. And even if you let Clowney go, you have to replace him with another legit rusher.

You could also elect to let Da'Quan go to keep either Kelly or Vaccaro. But we have a couple safeties waiting in the wings and Kelly will be a swing tackle scheduled to have a cap hit of $6.5M - that's steep. May be better off retaining Sambrailo at a cheaper rate.

I think Clowney & this scheme fit each other like a glove. We want our edge guys to stop the run & rush the passer in a non reckless manner & get pressures/sacks within the framework of the system. We know this & it has been said a billion times here but there’s obviously always going to be fans who complain about his lack of sacks. But it’s a perfect fit & I really think a deal needs to be worked out.

If def let Vaccaro go & one of the IOL go.  I’m hoping Hooker replaces Vaccaro but it’s also a great safety class. Even better, draft Creed Humphrey in the 1st rd. to play center.

We won't be drafting high enough to get a LT who wouldn't be a project. Lewan should be able to fully recover from a simple tear; he looks more like a TE in person; he's not one of these guys carrying extra weight on his frame which leads to joint recovery issues.
