So by that logic, what rules would the Dems be changing if they increased the numbers on the court? It'd be their right to do so.

Republicans set a precedent prior to the 2016 election that you shouldn't nominate someone to the Supreme Court in an election year. They are now attempting to go against that. They are setting the rule that precedent doesn't matter, only what they can legally do. Dems if they win, can legally do all of those things. If precedent doesn't matter then what are they doing wrong?

This country... can't even mourn an American Icon without fighting over her body and her seat. We are pathetic.

The ACA is the Republican health bill from the 90s. It's Mitt Romney's Republican law from Massachusetts in the early 00s.    Yet when Obama brought up the same law, suddenly it became a "go

I actually think it could be a good idea. The life time appointments were supposed to depolitize the Judiciary assuming both parties would use the powers of congress to vet potential judges and ensure

They flat out refused to hold a vote on Obama's Supreme Court nominee to keep the seat open.

They abused the blue slip objections to block other federal judge appointments to keep seats open (in addition to refusing votes entirely once they had the power). A process that the Republicans promptly turned around and ignored once they were making the judicial appointments. And then they jammed through virtually every nominee they put up, including the ones deemed unqualified.

So, the GOP didnt change any rules. They just used better legislative maneuvering. Blame Harry Reed. And your own party for not being better at politics.

They didn’t change the rules, they simply ignored the rules whenever it benefitted them.

And no, Harry Reid is not to blame. It’s all Mitch.

She’s been dead close to two years. The Dems just needed a opportune time to make the announcement to get the most leverage out of her death.

It’s amazing how stupid you are.  Trump’s base is amazingly stupid.

They’re own.  Did they not proclaim a Justice should not proclaimed in an election year in 2016?

Just be honest.  I know you can’t do that. But can you try?

The GOP was warned behind closed doors that if they keep this shit up it would swing back in their faces. You play with the bull, you get the horns. Now enjoy your 6-3 SCOTUS while it lasts.

Our politics didn't have to get this dirty but its your parties fault they've been in retaliation mode since November 2008

if you are paying attention to the Sunday Morning Talk circuit, you know the Stupid Democrats are doing exactly what I feared they would do. Stop focusing on the hypocrisy of McConnell and the GOP. Stop appealing to McConnell, Graham, and Cruze to honor their words and to uphold the principles they claim to govern by. You were outplayed 4 years ago, the voters gave us Trump, and you are about to be outplayed again; Start fighting back. The America you are appealing to doesn't exist anymore. The GOP has defined the Liberals as anti-business, baby killing, socialist anarchists and all you respond with is trying to appeal to logic and principle? Fucking idiots.

This definitely shifts power back to conservatives in the SC.  It will be interesting to see what cases come to the supreme court now that interested parties wouldn't pursue before because they knew they couldn't get the outcome they wanted.  This will definitely change political dynamics for a generation or more.
