So the Russian plan was to sow discord by... giving the appearance they were trying to help Trump without actually helping Trump, thereby making the Democrats look bad? Doesn't that still help Trump?

when is Barr going to weigh in with the "Senate confirms no collusion with Russia" summary?

Trump supporters gives no shit about this. While news, it changes nothing.

The Democrats' biggest mistake was pulling the impeachment trigger too early. There was nothing around that Ukraine call that violated a law aside from obstruction of Congress. If they held a simple hearing and let it go no where, he would have saw that as an open door to show his ass...and the House Democrats would've had more ammo.

I think they impeached him at the right time, and thankfully they didn’t wait too long or the pandemic would have started and killed it. The public was predictably divided largely on political lines but more supported impeachment than opposed.

But I do think they should have also opened investigations to his violations of the emoluments clause. That’s clearly impeachable and there is no doubt he has been using his office to line his pockets. They should have shone a very bright light on how much corruption is going on there.

That's what makes me think some House Dems may be on his dole... the emoluments stuff would be an EASY conviction and it's an afterthought.

He's easily guilty but they wouldn't kick him out of office for it.

If that's the case, what can a modern president get shit-canned by the Senate for? Shooting the damn Pope?

That's why voting him out is imperative.

Its all about the voters. And voter opinions, especially on the right, is all about the propaganda. The propaganda controls them and therefore the Republican senators.

Pelosi knew this. But she also hoped that the blantacy of the Ukraine stuff would cut through the propaganda for everyone to see but she was wrong.

Pelosi knew the Senate GOP wasn’t going going to convict no matter what. That wasn’t why she moved to open impeachment hearings. It was about public sentiment and exposing the facts to the light of day.

The lawfare podcast goes into detail about the report. Pretty good breakdown and LOL

Also talks about the hilarity of the Republicans writing the report then saying it showed no collision. The report shows Manafort worked with Russia and Trump knowingly talked with Stone to Assange about releasing the hacked E-mails. Trump had to commute Stone's sentence, Stone could rat Trump lying about it. As Stone publicly noted BTW

When Trumpers hold up the Mueller Report or this Senate Intelligence report and say 'No collusion!', what they're necessarily copping to is the only alternative narrative these reports  allow for: Trump and his campaign are idiots and patsies the Russians use to sow discord in America.

The Lawfare podcast actually discusses this very thing. The Trump campaign was far from useful idiots unknowingly being used. They were colluding with Russia and WikiLeaks the entire time and systematically and strategically in step the whole time. Ivanka is even mentioned in the report talking about how to use the info and hide it.

"No Collusion" means Collusion isn't a defined crime. This report has criminal referrals and shows Trump perjured himself in his written answers to Mueller.

The biggest mistake was not going public Comey style before the election and screaming at the top of their lungs what was going on. Obama stayed quiet like McConnell ordered him to because he thought Hillary would win.

So you are admitting Obama made a political decision in his best interest and not in the best interest of the country.

And you are saying Obama is weak because he was bullied by an underling.

What is your point?

None of these deflections change the fact that Trump is a treasonous con.

That would have went over like a turd in the punch bowl.
