BudsOilers
Why would Clowney be fucking the Titans over if he signs somewhere else? rns90

They've had months to negotiate with Clowney. If he signs elsewhere, it's on the Titans. I think Clowney did gain a little leverage with the Beasley no show. I get the impression JRob was happy to add Clowney only if it was on the Titans terms, will be interesting to see if Beasley does actually opt out whether JRob will be willing to bring in Clowney on his terms. For what it’s worth, if Beasley opted out then the Titans would have plenty of extra cap room IsntLifeFunny, and SuperFreak90

The salary would become a 2021 cap hit and he would miss out on a chance at a big payday until 2022. What I’m unclear on is whether the cap hit from the signing bonus would be split over both years or entirely in 2020.

Sure, but it would save a little this year for money to potentially go towards Clowney on a 1 year deal.

kyle021
This is odd. It was our biggest signing in FA and he got overpaid if anything. It is also a huge need. If dude opts out then I would push hard for Clowney. Give him what he wants for one year and then renegotiate in the offseason
