T-RAC
The could be the Washington Redhats. That would bring back all the people upset about the name change.
TitansFan23
Since the Basketball team is the Wizards, maybe the Football team could be the Warlocks. Washington Warlocks. Edited July 4, 2020 by TitansFan23
Hyperion
About the stupidest fucking thing I've ever heard which is saying a lot as the societal stupidity is easy fruit to reach. I've worked in three tribal casinos in Arizona. One of them in Parker, AZ which is a small town on the California border. About as far away culturally as you can get from Washington D.C. Combine with the Redskins being awful for the most part, you wouldn't think they have fans there. That's wrong. One night on a Monday or Thursday night game, the Redskins were playing and the casino bar was full of local tribal members wearing Washington Redskins gear and rooting on their team. At my next job in Tucson, one of my gaming inspectors office was essentially a shrine to the Washington Redskins. I've met one Native who was offeneded by the name. Unless the team is called the Bullets or the Leeches, both of which are great names for a DC team then I'm done with the NFL. I can't handle the useless virtue signalling anymore. Little Earl
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell is a 1981 graduate of Washington & Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. Has he urged his alma mater to drop both the Washington and Jefferson names? I guess that would leave the word "and." Denali

You don't necessarily have to be Native American to be offended by the term Redskins, do you? Maybe other groups besides them find it to be offensive. When I was growing up you still had people on TV occasionally using the N-word. But now it has become the most offensive word in the English language, even more than fuck or any other curse word throughout history.

OzTitan
I don't know if offensive is the right term, but it seems unnecessary, and crude. I mean, can't they just not be named after the skin color of some people? will it matter at all in 10 years after they've changed the name? sports team name changes are not exactly unheard of. I guess you could keep arguing for it to stay the same, but I honestly don't know why you would care so much, especially if you're not even a fan of the team. This just seems like gay marriage all over again. What are you worried about? that people will be able to marry animals? Er, I mean, that half the teams will have to change their names because some group claims offense? that's not going to happen. OzTitan
Also, a team can change its name if it wants. It doesn't have to mean people find their current one offensive or whatever. It's a private organization who can do as they please. Maybe they just don't think it's that cool to be called after a racially charged term anymore? probably a smart decision I'd say.
