And the constant injuries to boot! I guess there's some comfort in the fact that if we didn't draft him it would have been Gabbert or Ponder who also were terrible. Jay Cutler instead of VY is at least somewhat interesting counterfactual to consider. He was basically the definition of average but maybe that could have worked well during a few of those seasons instead of the VY/KC stuff. pat

We could have also watched him sit around with indifference while smoking a cigarette during slow points in the game lol. Edit: if he had any shits to give me may have been farve. Farve was/is a moron and he just loved the game. Edited June 22, 2020 by Callidus

Has to be either 2013 or 2003. 2013. 2003 at least Brown (while he had injuries) was useful. Most of the 2013 picks were giant piles of flaming poop. He had some big plays his rookie year and had an awesome preseason his second year. He just never recovered after his injury. He looked like he was a star in the making. Calico is my honorable mention. He appeared to be so improved going into his second season. This isn't so much a disappointing pick, but how injury issues derailed a much needed offensive weapon. Now, were Young, Locker, and Mariota back ups for any other position or do I need to pass on voting?

The whole group flamed out in around 4years but we did have some guys who played for a bit. 2003 was brown and jack but he may have been solid outside of getting hurt. So is one decent player and trash vs a bunch of promises that amounted to nothing worse?

Yeah, because some of the 2013 players were straight trash (at least for us) like Blidi Wreh-Wilson. I had to look again but the best player (again for the Titans) was probably Brian Schwenke. Yes, MM split out as a WR and flailed his arms aimlessly in the playoffs last year. Therefore he got my vote.

pat
I'm gonna whine about this one for years 2017 5 Corey Davis WR Western Michigan Picking a WR high is already bad enough. Picking an injured WR that high is just foolish. My disappointment isn't with Davis; it's more with JRob. Come on, man.

Depends on whether or not you thought Davis was going to be a great player though. Using the Locker example, if you hated the pick, then you cant be too disappointed or surprised that he sucked badly.
pat
5 minutes ago, Callidus said: This is a joke right? 100% serious. Even if Corey Davis was actually an elite WR there were still elite players on the board at QB (Watson, Mahomes), RB (McCaffrey), OLB (TJ Watt), CB (Lattimore, Humphrey, White), S (Adams, Baker). Picking a WR at 5 is a waste... the WR turning out to be a JAG makes it worse. Not to mention a second round pick tearing it up (Schuster). If ever you want to know that JRob is fallible look at this draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_NFL_Draft#Player_selections Now that said, I don't really think a great GM is judged by their top 5 picks. It's not the range to specialize in. But it still was a disappointment, and one you could see a mile away.

I don't weigh draft slot that highly but I get why some do. I loved Davis coming out and even I thought 5 overall was reach but given how that draft played out, I understand why J-Rob did what he did. I wanted Lattimore bad that year. rns90
