AJ Brown vs Brees

Recommended Posts

If you aren't caught up, Drew Brees, when asked about the protests changed the subject to the flag.  Brees thinks the protests are against the military.  SOMEHOW.  CTE maybe?

Brees's teammates aren't happy with him.

Listening to what?  If people have something to say, say it.  But all you have really seen is people behave like unruly assholes and personal And career harm wished to anyone with a different opinion.

worst offseason evar

It’s funny that the same group who call people snowflakes all the time get so offended by someone kneeling during a song

The entire quote adds some nuance to what he said.  I took it that he is pro protest and BLM, but can't agree with that particular variant.  He's an absolute moron for taking that stance in the current environment, however.  His PR team is gonna be earning their keep the next few months, lol.

I read that Kamara and several members of the offense immediately un-followed him on Twitter, lmao.  It's obvious he been sipping at that Nyquil.

Pretty lazy and intentionally dishonest summary view of the interview with Brees that got folks upset.  It certainly had a level of tone deafness to it but his response about that was based on a direct question about what his response was if players returned to kneeling during the national anthem in the upcoming season.  Here's the actual interview.....

It’s stupid for him to take that position right now after the entire world has seen taking a knee before games had merit. There was justification to do it. Had a real conversation about the subject started then, maybe we wouldn’t be where we are now.

Past that the idiot has to think about how what he says effects teammates. He has to be with them for a whole season. Just stupid.

The conversation was stifled by these "faux-patriots" passing off the political propaganda of "us vs them" bullshit.  It was a bunch of "hey, look at me!  I'm SO patriotic!  I wear a flag pin every day!  I LOVE this cloth!  EVERYONE MUST WORSHIP THIS CLOTH!"

These politicians and talking heads didn't want bother with the hard work of working through the problems of racism.  These assholes instead used it to further their agenda and grab headlines.  They demonized a form of peaceful protest and changed the subject - just like Brees.  He used this moment to talk about how great his family is and how great a Christian and patriot he is.  He gave specifics there, didn't he?  What specifics did he go in to about addressing racism?

Well that says a lot.

Your description is not quite accurate. He was asked, in light of the protests if he still didn’t support players kneeling for the anthem. He didn’t bring it up.

You do realize that someone could actually be fully supportive of justice reform to ensure equality for every citizen and still have an issue with people not standing for the national anthem?  Personally, I don't care but there are plenty of Americans that did and do find sitting or kneeling disrespectful.  That fact actually served to negate the attention that the kneeling gesture was intended to get as it resulted in plenty of people who need to be part of the solution to tune out the symbolic message.  The fact that we are having the protests and senseless deaths in 2020 actually prove that the flag kneeling by players accomplished little.

This problem requires actual actions and changes.  A symbolic kneeling for an anthem doesn't come close to accomplishing anything other than allowing the players to pat themselves on the back for being faux activists.  You know what does work?  Actual dialogue about the situation and solutions to make it better.  Covid-19 related lockdowns that basically allowed the Floyd case to get center attention for two weeks now has done far more to do this than what the NFL players did in 2016/2017......

Actually, it was completely inaccurate but I'm sure he knew that when he wrote the OP.

Thanks - I read the Brees part yesterday and then saw the AJ Brown thing today.  I posted based off of faulty memory of the details.
