Here's kind of how I could see a Biden administration looking based on reporting and connections, for the sake of political nerdery. We can use this thread to discuss Cabinet picks later on if Biden starts naming nominees before the election. I've put alternative options in parenthesis.

Just something new to go back and forth about

President: Joe Biden

Vice President: Kamala Harris (Elizabeth Warren)

Chief of Staff: Ron Klain

Secretary of Sate: John Kerry (Susan Rice)

Secretary of Defense: Michele Flournoy (Jack Reed)

Secretary of Treasury: Lael Brainard (Jack Lew)

Attorney General: Sally Yates (Duval Patrick)

National Security Advisor: Antony Blinken (Susan Rice)

Secretary of Homeland Security: Lisa Monaco (Avril Haines)

Secretary of Energy: Ernest Moniz (John Kerry)

Secretary of Education: Inez Tannenbaum

Secretary of HHS: Vivek Murthy (Sylvia Matthews Burwell)

Secretary of Commerce: Penny Pritzker (Gary Locke)

Secretary of Veterans Affairs: Bob McDonald (Sloan Gibson)

Secretary of Interior: Ken Salazar (Mark Udall)

Secretary of Agriculture: Tom Vilsack (Blanche Lincoln)

Secretary of Labor: Hilda Solis (Tim Ryan)

Secretary of HUD: Keisha Lance-Bottoms (Julian Castro)

Secretary of Transportation: Anthony Foxx (Ray LaHood)

OMB Director: Sylvia Mattews Burwell (Jack Lew)

EPA Adminstrator: Heather Zichal (Carol Browner)

Trade Representative: Michael Froman (Tom Nides)

UN Ambassador: Pete Buttigieg (Susan Rice)

NATO Ambassador: Nicholas Burns (Pete Buttigieg)

Council of Economic Advisors Chair: Jared Bernstein (Larry Summers)

Small Business Administration Director: Andrew Yang

CIA Director: Avril Haines

FBI Director: Val Demings (Jeh Johnson)
NSA Director: William McRaven

DNI: Tom Donilon (Mark Warner)

Secretary of the Navy: Mike Mullen (Ray Mabus)

Secretary of the Army: Seth Moulton

Secretary of the Air Force: Deborah Lee James (Amy McRath)

There are a ton of other Biden allies that it would be great to find spots for as well, but alas there's limited room.

Mabus will probably be Harris’ National Security Advisor but if not, should he Navy Secretary.

Nothing for Stacey Abrams or Beto O’Rourke? Both seem capped out at the state level for now.

It would be ideal to find a spot for them, but I'm not sure what their best positions would be, as they have no real expertise relative to current cabinet jobs.

Stacey Abrams could be a lead person on Voting Rights and O'Rourke could be a lead person on gun control, but where do they fit in?

Abrams would be a good candidate for HUD, but she'd probably be wanting to run for Governor full time relatively quickly after the first 6 months in that position.

So it's not really based on being able to perform the job, you just have to be a Biden ally.

Got it.

???

Everyone on the list is perfectly suited for the job I slotted them for and have expertise for the relevant position, many of them having held the same spot under Obama.
